Make sure you are on a blank layer as I had your graphic by itself and use Magic Wand. That was it.
Edit: One more thing...when saving and wanting to leave the transparency, untick the "Background" layer and then save as PNG.

How well I remember that. PDN has really come a long way since the early days of 3.5 version and the interface is intuitive and simple for me.
I have tried Gimp and Krita and I keep coming back to PDN for the simplicity and ease of use.

If you could attach a family-friendly picture to show us the issue, we could walk you through it. It sounds like you are looking for masking technique.

The only way to change layer is via blending mode, I'm afraid. I think in Photoshop it has the ability to influence layer using clipping layer method, and I think that's what you are seeking?

Ok. I will continue to tinker with the software and see if I can't bind operations with the UI.

Hi, Rick, I do have some feedback. I have recently purchased and installed XP-Pen Artist 12 Pro and so far, I'm enjoying being able to "paint" directly on the interface. I am not sure if there is any way I can bind certain PDN operation to the drawing tablet's short cut keys. For example, I would like to bind the scroll wheel to control the brush size rather than the zoom.
In case it is useful, I am attaching the diagnostics of my system. I do have a mini-PC that was purchased from Minis Forum.

Effect > Objects > Outline works fine for me even using PDN V 5.0 beta.
Effects > Selection > Outline also works when you make a selection; otherwise, it will render to the border of the canvas.

I just tried a method using one of my files, having set the color picker sampling to "Image", and changing "After click: switch to previous tool," in this case the paint brush was picked first, then the color picker. Working a new transparent layer and while using the color picker tool, I kept the left mouse button down while scanning for a color I wanted to pick, and let go of the mouse button. The tool then automatically switched to the paint brush.
By the way, I was able to do this using PDN alpha 5.0 version. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but a bit of practice using the short cut keys, K (for color picker) and B (for paintbrush), I think it will become second-nature.

Use ToeHead's Graph Paper, and when running the plug-in, change from standard to isometric graph type, tweak with cell size, etc, and then get to work. Make sure you run the plug-in on a new, blank layer, and create new lines on new layer using the graph paper's layer as guide. I have personally done this and it works.
Edit: Here's a couple of hint. To precisely line up the line with grid, hold the shift key and the line will precisely follow the angle of the grid. Second, if you want thinner line, turn off anti-aliasing on the tool bar

Very nice job with the Apply Mask plug-in. That is the closest thing we will come to having Layer Mask.

I thought I would pass word along that after downloading version 60 and running installer, I was informed that version 52 was available for download, so I was confused. I had to remove all the effects associated with version 52 so I could see version 60.
I'll give it a whirl and see how the Apply Mask works, and if it's working as I'm thinking, then I will need to give an update to the tutorial reflecting the latest change in PDN V 5.0

No worries. My advice, if you are serious about sticking with Mac, is to make sure you have a very generous RAM. My last go-around with Parallel caused systematic slow down of the Mac to the point everything came to a crawl, and I finally had to return to PC. I think Parallel is better in that it will handle the licensing, a big issue for Windows, and ease of installation of programs.

Had you read the FAQ:
(1) Will it ever be ported to Mac OS, GNU/Linux, or any other operating system?
(2) What about Mono support? Wouldn't that be really easy?
We will not be doing any work to directly support Mac OS, Linux, Mono, or any other platform. We are doing this in order to focus on the best quality and support for the platform that we develop on: Windows with .NET. Also, we simply do not have the resources or expertise to do any of this work.
edit: also this tutorial points to using virtual machine to run paint.net within Mac.

Not possible but you can change the brush size and turn off anti-aliasing that will work as a de facto pencil.

Use the selection tool to draw a selection box and copy the “example text” and paste it in another location. Then you will have to back fill the void created by the copy/paste method.
Otherwise, recreate the text as BoltBait indicated.
edit: this is a good reminder that having the text on its own layer will enable the text to be moved around using the move tool or using one of the align plug-in to align the text somewhere else on the canvas.
my comment assumes that the OP is working on a flattened image rather than layers.
