  1. Nicely assembled tutorial! I normally save all my work in bitmaps and those can take up to 2-3mb's each, PNG's are often only a few hundred KB's and load much faster in my case. It took Mozilla about 4 seconds to load all 75 elements but Opera did it in under 2.5 seconds. lol bro how come I never got a welcome to the forums greeting!!! brb going to find the biggest image I can find to post so you have to edit it!!! lol I'm totally kidding please don't ban me
  2. Running a bit late so Ill keep it simple, I love flames, had to go with Yellow's but drew's looks decent, just needs a littlle more oomph. yellowman - 3 DrewDale - 0 Yellow is the winner of this battle, congrats man! I challenge with this, spraypainted snakeskin tile, good luck to my challenger!
  3. Gradient Map by PyroChild Gradient Effect - Beginner Image Merging Heavy Turtorial Edited: Good call HyRez! Located it!
  4. Great job Visual! This looks fantastic, thanks for sharing!
  5. More layering options!?!?! **drools** On another note, when it comes to software such as Photoshop, Gimp, PhotoPosPro, Paint.net, and even the older Corel Photopaint series, I've tried them all and without a doubt, Paint.net and Gimp are the only 2 that are worth keeping. Photoshop is a great program but it requires money to buy, requires time to learn how to use it, and it even requires a computer with hardware most people don't have. Paint.net can do exactly what other software does and it's a much smaller application which takes up less resources which is why I use it more than any other program.
  6. Thanks for the info Ego Eram Reputo! I updated the descriptions and also will do some refinements to PDN-Search to limit the results to Paint.net relevant searches, it's probably cross-referencing Google content and returning non-relavant results.
  7. If you're like I am and often get lost while trying to locate something you're searching for such as a specific help tutorial, plug-ins that may be hard to find, or even an old thread buried amongst tons of other threads, hopefully these resources may help you in finding exactly what you're searching for! GetPaint.net Custom Search Engine Tool - Designed to help locate Tutorials, Plug-Ins, Help-related issues, and relevant topics, by searching content in the Paint.net forums, developer blogs, and from Google. It's much more accurate than the built-in search feature in the upper right corner since it's powered by Google Search which indexes just about everything posted. PDN-Search Custom Search Engine Tool - Also powered by Google Search, it's designed to be versatile by scanning multiple Paint.Net resource sites. An additional feature powered by Google Image Search allows you to search for images by image name, by the username that created it, or by keywords associated to the images. PDN-Search Basic Version - A smaller version of PDN-Search that's just the search engine core by itself. Hopefully with all these search tools @ your disposal, the time spent frivously searching for plug-ins, help threads, tutorials, and more... will be a thing of the past so you can spend more time on doing stuff and less time on searching for stuff. More sites will be added to PDN-Search over time as they are located or requested to be added which should help anyone and everyone be able to locate anything and everything... with ease!
  8. Yup yup indeed NN79! I always like to offer any tips or advice on stuff if I think it might help.
  9. You can use "Windows Preview Image" to easily rotate images by right-clicking any image in Windows Explorer and select "preview". Just click where the arrow is pointing to in the image below to rotate the images as desired, then click one of the blue arrows to the left to go to the next image, no special software needed.
  10. lol thanks Ego Eram Reputo! I should lay off the blunts a bit till I get used to where everything is. xD
  11. edited: found something that may be useful, hopefully it helps! Paint.net Filetype Plugins Using WIC Codec
  12. I usually use 200 to 400 PPI (pixels per inch) when resizing images as it will maintain resolution when resizing images especially if they are small images being enlarged to bigger ones. It helps prevent the image from becoming pixelated.
  13. I often have this same issue on a few websites and is always due to image compression & conversion features. The easiest thing to do is to add a new layer to the magnifying glass image then place that new layer below the original image and use the "hex value" color option with the "fill tool" to set the new layer to the same color as the blog. You can then flatten all layers and save it as a ".jpg". I had to clean up the magnifying glass a little bit for this example. Click the 2nd image to enlarge it if needed. Hopefully this helps! Magnifying Glass / PNG format Add new layer / move new layer to the bottom / use "hex value" to set color / use "fill tool" to color the layer
  14. Hey WhiteStar! I'm not sure if there's an "automatic update" feature for plug-ins as the files are installed manually and located in random locations throughout the forums as opposed to a dedicated location such as Web Browser add-ons & extensions. An automatic update option would be a great feature to have though for sure.
  15. Riiight on WelshBlue! That's greatly appreciated mate!
  16. ROFL!! Both good sigs although one stands out in the humor category and won my vote. penguin dolphin - 2 (BSOD humor is always a goldmine especially for techies like me, niiice work! lol) chimay12321 - 1 (Looks great and a lot of effort went into it, makes me want a cup of Milo)
  17. Unfortunately any file including image files that aren't saved 100% in full won't work regardless of what's done to try to restore it. All files are basically bits of information and a corrupted file usually means the information is incomplete or is out of order so the computer propbably won't be able to read or open it properly.
  18. Anytime I can't locate something here, I just use google with the keywords "Paint.net forum" and after that add what you're looking for to the search field. It usually locates even older stuff.
  19. Right on SH Art! This is the exact effect I was using another program for but wanted to learn to do this with Paint.net and create a plug-in with other fading options. Thanks for the tutorial as it helps a lot!
  20. I also want to create a fade plug-in with the same effect bugman mentioned but with a few other options so I posted my idea here Plug-In Advice - How do I create a "fade plug-in". I was referred to the gradient plug in and am looking forward to checking it out! Thanks BoltBait!
  21. Thank you pdnnoob & Ego Eram Reputo so much for the info and links! I thought it might be the gradient plug-in but wasn't sure if it had the same effects I had in mind. I will grab it and hopefully can learn how to create Plug-Ins soon as I have tons of ideas on effects and want to create a few as my way of contributimg to the Paint.net community. I noticed tons of help tutorials on how to create them and will go through them all! Thanks again, you guys rock!
  22. Wow! That's from quite a while back Mozart as PC-Paintbrush is no longer around. I've used Paint back then as the first program I learned to use on MS-DOS long before Windows was around. Paint.net and PC-Paintbrush are actually 2 completely separate programs with only the nickname "Paint" in common, the rest is all different but I can understand the association as it's one I also had which many people do. Your best option is to go through google and find a "txt-to-pcx converter" which I'm sure is floating around somewhere. Once in PCX format, you should be able to open it in Paint.net since Rick mentioned there is a PCX plug-in you can add to Paint.net. I'm not sure if it goes in the effects or format folder in Paint.net but hopefully one of the others might know. Good Luck! PCX Plug-In for Paint.Net Thread & Download edit: updated with link to PCX plug-in
  23. Finished Plug-Ins Found Here / Plug-Ins Developer Section & Tutorials Found Here I found lots of stuff in these 2 threads but nothing on what I had in mind or where to post questions on how to create the effect plug-in I have in mind and this section seems like the right one, hopefully. Any advice is greatly appreciated! If the plug-in already exists and I missed it, if anyone can direct me to it, that's also appreciated! Thanks in advance! This was made using "2pic" and is a program I have for pretty much 1 reason only, to fade 2 images cleanly and easily. I would like to make a similar plug-in that has all these options but no idea on if it already exists or if it's even possible to create. Each effect is labeled so you get an idea of what I want to create as my first plug-in. Any info is greatly appreciated! edit: revised example image
  24. Hey everyone! Sorry haven't been on much, busy with stuff but all the recent stuff looks great! This was a hard choice indeed. Penguin Dolphin - 2 (The 3 dimensional appearance won my vote. The design is pretty simple but it does have a really good 3D effect! Great work!) Ella - 1 (I really like this due to the colors used and the way it fades cleanly plus I bet it took a lot of effort. Outstanding job!) edit: Thanks Minners! It was made to as a battle entry but I wasn't aware that new challenges have to wait till the current one is finished, I am now and appreciate the heads-up!
  25. I read through most of this thread, has some really great ideas for activities and contests. Forgive me if someone already mentioned this idea but how about a "Best Paint.net Wallpaper Contest" or just a regular "Best Wallpapers Contest" that offers users a great way to express their unique creative styles while also promoting Paint.net in the process.
