  1. Thanks Rick. I'm afraid I'm not clever enough to have my script automatically figure out how to download whatever happens to be linked to from that page. Oh well, figured there was no harm in asking. Thanks all the same. -- Steve
  2. I'm not sure where to even ask this, figured I'd try here first. Within my org we use an RMM tool (remote monitoring/mgmt) and I've crafted a script to install Paint.net to managed PCs. At the moment my script grabs the installer from a network share, and relies on me to download the installer. So if an updated version is released, I must go download the latest version, tweak the filenames in the script (or I could just rename the downloaded installer), etc... Is there some URL I could point to, or a method I am ignorant of maybe, to always download whatever is the latest version? That way I wouldn't need to manually rejigger things every so often. Thanks, Steve J.
  3. I have what I think is a simple question, but I'm not even sure what to search for, so I've done minimal searching, sorry. I have a logo - blue and green colors, good for a white background. BUT, I want to place the logo on a dark green background. SO, I want to convert all of the clors in the logo to White, but I don't know the best way to go about it. I tried using the paint bucket tool, but all of the shapes and letters have jagged edges with varying shades that are visible when zoomed in (dithered?), and the results I get when using the paint bucket aren't ideal. What's a better way to go about this? Thanks, Steve
  4. YES! Now I feel dopey for not coming up with the word. I'll play around with it some more and I'm confident it will do the trick. Off-topic - Rick - I couldn't figure out how to delete my obsolete response to you above. Am I missing something, or is that option not available to me because I'm new or not a mod? -- Steve
  5. Nitenurse - that doesn't do exactly what I'm after, but it's a far cry better than what I can do manually and certainly puts me on the right track, thanks. It may be that there isn't a plug-in or built-in tool to do precisely what I'm after, and I'll just need to do at least a minimal bit of work myself. ;-)
  6. Rick, I think you misunderstand. I'm not trying to zoom in on something while I'm working on it. I want a specific area of the image to be enlarged, and pulled forward from the rest of the image behind it, so that the person looking at the image notices the area I enlarged, and that area becomes more prominent that the background.
  7. I often use Paint.NET while creating documentation for users of various computer applications, mainly working with screenshots. For awhile I've thought that instead of simply circling a spot on the image and labelling it with an arrow, it would might better to 'pull' that section of the image up, so that it appears larger and in-front of the rest of the image. I'm not really sure how to explain this clearly (which hindered my efforts to search for the solution before this post), so I created a crude mock-up of what I'm trying to accomplish: I'm pretty sure I've seen this technique used before, but don't know what it is called, or how to do it. Thanks for any help.
  8. Thanks Nitenurse! And thanks to pyrochild too - that's a great plug-in there. -- Steve
  9. I hope this isn't already covered somewhere, but I've searched the forums, the help doc, and the web via Bing & Google and come up empty. I'm almost clueless when it comes to graphics editing. I want to distort an image by dragging a point around, resulting in the image being stretched or pulled by that point. I'm not seeking the stretch/distortion, as much as the movement of bits of the picture. For example, imagine a smiley-face. I want to click and hold the mouse button on the end of the smile & then pull down to below the center of the smile. Do that again for the other end of the smile. Result = a 'frownie-face'. Does that make sense? Is there anyway to do such a thing with Paint.NET, or an existing plug-in? Thanks, Steve
