    5. You may not use any stocks outside of self-made pictures and drawings.

  2. And hereby I end this pub brawl.

    Please do not quarrel because someone may or may not have offended you in this topic. Ask toe_head in private if he meant to offend you if you lay awake at night because of this.

    I only want comments about the Signature of the Week competition here.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  3. I think it's right MJW withdrew his entry, but that's because he doesn't really use any fractals, so the entry violates rule nr. 3 (3. Keep to the theme that has been set.). There is not a single other reason his entry should not be allowed. I really do not care if he made fractals using CodeLab or any other such plugin.

    I think the problem lies with rule nr. 6 (6. Your entry must be made using paint.net, please don't use an outside image editor and try passing it off as PDN work. ). People who think CodeLab doesn't fit within this rule, please read words 9-14 (don't use an OUTSIDE IMAGE EDITOR) again. Codelab exists within PDN. So there is no rule against the usage of such tools.

    As for the usage of codelab. Why should one not be able to use such great plugins in which you can use your particular talents? I have seen a lot of entries which use modified photographs, should these all be banned because not everyone has a fancy camera and the skills to make photographs with nice lighting etc.? I don't think so. I could give a hundred other examples of this kind that are just plain ridiculous.

    As long as I'm the host here I will permit the usage of stock (if it's modified enough), including photographs, and I will permit the usage of parts within PDN that maybe not everybody can use effectively, but which are great tools nontheless. And I agree with toe_head2001 that if you want to catch up with the coders, try to use code some time ;)

    In a way everyone has some kind of headstart, because everyone has his/her own talents that he/she could use making awesome content in PDN. If my talent is calligraphing or something, use that in your work! If my talent is coding, use it! If your talent is math, use it! (really, you can make great art only using math)

    I hope everyone can live with this decision, if not, please tell me.

    Indeed, lets say we'll postpone it for a week if there are less than 4 submissions.

    Also I'd be glad to help you if I'm able to ^^

  7. I didn't enter this to win, only for support. I purposely disclosed that PDN was used as just one tool, so that nobody would vote for it. To me, it's just art, I don't care what tools were used to obtain the result......

    Time to move on, you can delete my account.

    P.S. There are lots of very talented people here. I wish everyone nothing but the best.

    I do want to emphasize that I did not make this decision to drive you away. I really like your art and your animations are very talented, you should keep posting them in your gallery.

    But when other programs have been used to obtain effects etc. that couldn't have been produced in PDN, you have a distinctive advantage compared to the rest. I want to prevent that.

    And indeed, I approve that it doesn't matter how a piece was made in general, but this remains a PDN comp and you have to use what PDN offers you.

    My apologies.

  8. I do not know if I should tolerate racerx's entry.

    Looking at it PDN only was used for the text and maybe some color corrections or something. That isn't even 20%.

    There has been a lot of discussion around stock usage etc. and I do NOT want that fight to happen here (again). So I am going to be very childish and I won't ask for any opinions on this matter, but I will just do what I think is best, as is my right as the arbiter of the SOTW comp.

    I do tolerate the use of stock that isn't made with paint.net if it doesn't take up a huge portion of the sig. I also do tolerate the use of a lot of stocks in one sig and using PDN to manipulate them in such a way that they create 1 cohesive sig. I do not tolerate the use of outside programs or stocks that make up more than 10% of the sig. And that is clearly what happened in this case.

    So I've decided this entry is disqualified. Racerx may place a new entry if he wants.

    I do really like the entry though and the loop is pretty smooth, I really had to look for a while until I saw where the loop start and end are. You should definitely continue to make such cool things! But not for this comp, sorry..

  12. Beta0 - Really cool effect, only the text is a bit off, try to work on that.

    Ishi - The sig seems a bit incoherent to me, it fits in the floating objects category IMO. Try to blend the object a bit more with the background

    My vote goes to Beta0.

    Beta0 = 3
    Ishi = 2

    Beta0 is the winner!
