  1. Thank you! ... It's cute? By the way, is 'cranking them out' a good thing or should I spend more time on the images?
  2. Thank you. I will try to fit those into the next spacescape I make.
  3. That wavy one looks three dimensional. Good job! It would be nice to have a subtle blur in the last one.
  4. Thanks, for the compliment and explanation. So, do they transfer the image via email or something? Is there :gasp: an online PDN drawing board? From now on, I am going to name my creations.
  5. A plug-in is a tool that you download that does a certain thing, such as creating fire, or another type of blur. A tutorial is a bunch of text and pictures you follow to get an effect. Think of plug-ins as machines that do the job for you, as opposed to tutorials which make you do the job. As for your second question, what computer type do you use? (Windows 7, Windows XP, or Windows Vista) If you do not know how to find out, then first, look at the bar at the bottom of your screen. If it is solid blue (or something else of you changed it) then you have Windows XP. If it's a translucent black, then it's either Windows 7 or Windows Vista. I forgot the differences between those two...
  6. My first time entering a SOTW competition. Font: Coalition (from dafont)
  7. Nice works here! The glossies are awesome and the portraits are impeccable! I really like the violin, (I play the cello) but my critique is... well, the glossies on the violin are a tad bit too glaring. Well done!
  8. Thanks. The reason there is a whiteness around it is because of the glow I had applied to it. When I added the drop shadow, it 'solidified' the glow and then added a shadow along the edge. Should I just increase the contrast or something? Also, how does Collaboration Art work?
  9. This? Thanks for the compliments. Space draws me in because it represents technology, which is, in my opinion, the ultimate power. I'm planning to make a career out of art, so I won't be quitting! Thank you! The reason you cannot figure out its name is because I didn't give it one. Glad you like it.
  10. NN71 - A nice metallic effect, but the metal highlighting is a bit too bold. (It would be better, in my opinion, to have a much more subtle gradient.) Rafroller - A nice, simple, smooth effect. However, the texture/color is somewhat bland and the shadow could be lighter. Easier on the eye. NN71: 1 Rafroller: 3 #Rafroller wins.
  11. Very good! The only thing I could find wrong (and this is unbelievably picky) is that near the center of the 'Synaptic Occulsion', down and to the left, there is a shadow for something that isn't there! Keep it up.
  12. A quick add on: Likely, the reason the letter doesn't paste normally is because, if you just paste it, it will replace the thing you copied unless you move it right away. Also, there is this thing called 'Help Topics' that you can access by clicking on the last button to the right on the toolbar (the thing that says stuff like 'File, Edit') and clicking on Help Topics. It includes a list of keyboard commands.
  13. Very true! I do draw quite a bit. It's not dedicated drawing, however, and I do not use colored pencils. Drawing on the computer just doesn't have the qualities of pencil drawing. Pressure, less shakiness, ability to easily, smoothly erase parts of the image... It can't be beaten. Learning from the good (and bad) of past artists is important, and you can learn their mindset also. I'm glad you like the new image. The stripes were done with Gradient Bars, Sine Waves, and a lot of texture work. (When my mom saw the blob in the image, her reaction was 'A kidney?' I always ask myself that question... but it gets mixed up since my lessons took off from a slightly different direction and it kept conflicting with theoretical knowledge (such as, 'It's his ball.' could work as well as 'Its his ball.') (I agree, knowledge is no burden to carry. Well, unless -it's- knowledge of something creepy you read in a Creepypasta (Creepypastas are like ghost stories you tell around the campfire, in terms of length.) (Reading some Creepypasta was one of my worst. ideas. EVER.)) I got a new siggy.
  14. A great, easy tutorial with a great result. I played with it a lot, and ended up with a rather different gold frame because of the differences in font. (The highlighting was way too strong, etc.) This is my take.
  15. You don't come across as mean: A little blunt perhaps (in my opinion) but a good guy! Sometimes, the tough approach gets me to work better than a softened blow. (For instance, I find critique/fault finding much more productive then just saying 'nice images'. (Not discriminating against anyone who does that!), in fact, in future galleries I comment on, I'm not going to find the images I like the best: I will look at the new images and find the fault, and report it.) Yup, Zeri is the nickname. Often times I 'ghost' the forums of another website: I just look over all the threads, turn them over in my head, and leave them without a reply. Partially because the bad 'trolls' (not you, nitenurse74!) will jump on every single mistake you make, and not in a good way. Welshblue installed in V4.0? Sounds like a plan! I kind of gave up on deviantart since no one comments on my images, except you. And it's easier to post images here. A typography piece and an image with a poem... I'll get right on it! ;D (A flower, perched atop a high rock. A beautiful thing, made of many colors. The wind blows around it, a feeling of majesty prevailing. But then... an angry roar descends from the heavens. A large, silhouetted shape dives past it, heading off into the distance. The plant, stripped of it's petals, slowly floats to the ground... ... into a waiting hand. A pale hand.)
  16. Ah! Alright then. I will try to do that more. I see what you mean. I can learn a lot from other people's galleries. HELEN's glossies, for example, and Welshblue's and your (abstract?) work. Plus, you all have awesome 3D senses... (By the way, I like to write for fun. Is there like a thread or something around here for writers?)
  17. Awesome glossies and drawings you have in here. The swans were nice! Some of my favorites were the glossy icons, and the living room scene. In fact, I'm preeeetty sure that I've seen those glossy icons used around. A testament to your skill. ;D
  18. Amazing stuff you have going on here. My personal favorite was this one, out of your newer works: By the way, I really like the custom frames. Like in the 'House of Treqilles' and your siggy.
  19. I don't quite get the meaning of this. Are you talking about my lack of commenting? (Because I generally respond better to critique than just a praise. With praise, all I can do is say 'thank you.') I know people aren't out for themselves. I'm sorry if I come across rude or something! :c
  20. There is a similar effect. It's not the same thing: This plugin, called 'Panelling', will pan the image, and if it goes over the boundaries, it will swap to the other side, like you describe. For the thing you want to do, you'll have to draw the complete design in the center of the canvas and then panel it over to a side. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=2617
