I am trying to create a selection box of exactly 220x115 pixels. But i dont see a way to do this in paint.net? I can only drag the cursor to create a selection box and this is giving me an imprecise size. Is there any way i can tell paint.net to create a seletion box of exactly 220x115 pixels?

I dont think you understood, i wasnt trying to remove the word "Cella" (thats easy enough to do by painting over it), i was trying to cover the red portions with the wavy lines below the word CELLA.

 

You can see in my second pic that i managed to do it for a short while but since the source selection moves, it started overwriting with the incorrect stuff instead of the wavy lines only.

 

You cant just use a paintbrush and select a source color for that since it wouldnt include the wavy lines, just the color.

So apparently the fill from brush tool only lets you copy and paste in square/circle areas and it doesnt let you use a brush to finely overwrite areas. Any more ideas?

 

And just in case anyone is still confused about what im trying to do :

I want to clone the wavy line underneath the word "CELLA" so i clone stamp it and then start overwriting the red portion with the wavy line.

 

Except that because the cloned area is moving as i do this, instead of simply overwriting the red areas with the wavy lines, i get an atrocity like this :

 

 

And you can see the cloned area moved all the way to the top right, whereas i wanted it to stay fixed on the wavy lines.

Red ochre : Thanks but its not that simple, im trying to clone over small portions with areas that match the surroundings. In terms of color, shading, etc. Simple color picker doesnt work since it only gives me one solid color.

 

Bolt : Hmm...it just looks like a brush? I basically want a clone stamp tool that will not move when i start cloning areas over. Is there really no option for this? I would have thought it would be an extremely common tool.

Okay it works with paint .net 4.0 now, but how do i get it to work as a kind of brush like type?

 

What i want to do is have a brush, copy an area, then paint an area with the brush.

 

Basically a clone stamp tool except that the original cloned area does not constantly move (which screws up my cloning, since unwanted areas get cloned as well).

Uh, i have it in my effects folder but it doesnt show up in the effects menu at all....restarted Paint.NET multiple times, no luck. Theres also no "unblock" button. Im using windows 7 64 bit and have UAC turned off and am on an admin account....any ideas?

? I dont want the clone tool to move, at all.

 

Copy and paste doesnt work since it doesnt give me a brush like tool to paste over exact areas. What i want to do is clone an area, and then i can use a brush like tool to slowly paint over an existing area with the area i just cloned. I dont want the brush's properties to change at all when i am doing this (and since the clone tool constantly moves, what i can paint with the brush keeps changing). Think of how the color picker works...the color picker sets the brush color to something, and it never changes afterwards until you change it yourself. But the color picker only lets me select one color, instead of a whole area to work with.

 

I did a search for "fill from file" but the only result on the forums is in this thread?

But i dont want it to move, it makes it much harder to clone stuff.

I clone on area of the picture then start applying the clone to an area....and as i do so, the source of the cloned area moves along with my mouse...why is it doing that?

 

I just do ctrl + click to select source then left click to apply the clone area....but the source is moving....

[Deleting a portion of a picture]

I have a image that has everything on the background layer. I want to delete some text and replace them with different text. But when i use the selection tool to delete the text, i just get a white/black check box area. How do i delete a portion of the picture and replace it with white blank space?

Oh and how do i adjust the size of the text box when inserting new text?

[Question about lines and moving them]

Lets say i draw a line using the line tool. I then want to move it slightly to adjust it's position. How do i do this? In MS paint, i just have to click and drag the line to wherever i want, but this doesn't work in paint.net
