  1. That's why people sometimes suggest disabling antivirus when installing stuff. Rick should really put some kinda note, though.

thanks and i have heard that recommendation before, just never needed it until now, not even when installing previous paint.net versions on this laptop. then again my av does update itself a lot so they probably changed something in there real time scanning.

i second the proposal of including the workaround, perhaps on the installation crash window?

  2. wtf, that didn't install either and i used it in the past. could it be a corruption in my win7 os?

  3. hi rick, i just attempted to use the built-in updater and it failed after removing the previous version, just left the paint.net folder and my effects folder, but no .exe or .dll files. i'm using win7 64 bit home premium.

edit: the download zip won't install either, here's the report:

  4. hi tr, i think i just found a couple of bugs with your latest version, i don't know if they were present in earlier versions?

    1. invert mask appears to disable smooth edge (anti aliasing) until the mask is inverted back to normal.

    2. the zoom slider's zoom is not centered, it appears with the 16:9 image i'm working on to always zoom to the upper left of the image. although i'm aware we can thankfully pan with right mouse/touchpad button.

  5. V3.5 of the plugin does default the color of the outline to the primary color set in pdn.

oh cool, i do actually have that version installed, i wonder what i was doing wrong?

i was seeing a default black color in the plugin, and yet my primary was brown at the time... although, i have just tested this with a new image and it works perfectly.

  6. understood to all that, and at least your interested in the idea.

from my work with blender 3d, i really can appreciate how tricky uv mapping can be. if ever you'd like some public or private beta testing let me know. i've beta tested on various apps over the years, including blender, crazybump (a bitmap to normal map generator) and a some level editing tools for idtech games. and i'm quite good at stress testing apps or finding uses for them that devs might not of thought of, he he.

  7. hi tr, understood, and i've just tested your updated paste fill and the new copy with alpha. they appear to be working very well together.

one thing i'm puzzled about, is if i use your copy with alpha, then instead of paste fill, i do a standard paste using my test image, i'm getting a light grey color where the alpha 0 would have been. i thought the colors of alpha 0 pixels were always colored black, not grey?

if i use standard copy and paste, again without your plugins, it results in a layer with transparency showing any layers beneath it and or the checkerboard.

i hope that all makes sense, are those result to be expected with your plugins? i'm not complaining, just curious.

  8. apparently, our dell touchpad does have those finger gestures, but i can see why we'd turned them off. they're not very reliable and definitely not accurate, but i doubt that's paint.net's fault, more like the limitation of our hardware and or it's drivers.

thanks very much for your help, although i think i'll just stick to using the scroll bars and zoom buttons for the foreseeable future.

  9. oh, so it's not a separate pad, it's functionality is built into the main pad. i go have a look at our driver here and see if there is something we can enable, as currently i'm sure our's isn't doing the scrolling.

  10. that sounds cool, i haven't heard of those vertical touch pads before, i assume you also have a main touchpad in the middle below the keyboard? i only have the latter, maybe my next laptop will have both.

  11. thanks for replying pdnnoob.

problem is i use a dell laptop's touchpad, and it doesn't have a wheel or middle button. in blender 3d, we can use modifier keys to emulate a middle mouse button, maybe pyrochild could one day implement those perhaps?
