  1. Thank you so much, it's all coming good now. If I close PdN with a colour image in it, the palette is colour next time I use it, and the docker windows no longer show at startup. It's unfortunate I started with a greyscale scan 😕
  2. I can't find all the settings on a new install on a new Win10 PC, I'm sure it used to be possible to set several startup options I have been using PdN for 10+ years (with plenty of 'donations') and use kbd shortcuts wherever possible. Now on startup I am presented with the little windows for Tools, Layers, History and Colours already open so I have to hit F1, F2, F3, F4 in succession to get ready for work. Can this be set not to happen? I have just looked through the 'settings' options, must have changed something and now a) the 'close' buttons on these little windows don't work, have to toggle on/off with the Function keys, and b) I seem to be stuck in 'grey' with no colours on the palette Advice please - Jules

  4. I too use the Mustek A3 USB 600 Pro and I've just discovered that paint.net can drive my scanner and scan staright into the image editor - oh bliss! Like everything else with paint.net, it seems to know everything about the scanner without being told. I scan images every day, mostly custom-size colour or A4 size greyscale at 150dpi, but with frequent deviations from these. Running under Win XP it works fine and I'm sure I will soon discover more about using it, but my initial impressions are that I want more control in this nice facility, similar to the the scanner panel provided by Mustek. I'm new here so forgive me, but is this the right place to be posting a wish-list? If so, I wish that: The control panel should remain active after each scan, so you don't have to run through the whole procedure and make all the settings over again for the next scan. A paper size option would be helpful, including a memory for 'custom' sizes which are so easy to set using 'Preview'. Maybe there should be presets which include scan size, resolution, image type, brightness and contrast A Function Key could toggle the scanner panel in/out of view Edit 2 Aug: I see that thattallguy posted a similar request in Discussions and Questions in 2010, and Rick Brewster replied "if I had the time" etc
