Hi Fjumper it seems from your post we are at similar levels. Alpha masking has to be my fav plug ins, so much you can use it for. Sorry I can't point you to a specific thread but I am sure others will.

I am new here but have been on a few forums over the years and these mods are the nicest I have met. I have also been a mod and it can be extremely frustrating.

Thanks guys (welshblue is included in this thanks ) I will see if I can do a tutorial then, liked the vid tut a lot simpler than my version I might see if I can combine mine with it to make it easier. How do I get the little tool images that people use in tutorials rather than having to write "use selection tool " ?

Have tried searching for a tutorial but have come up with nothing so thought I would give it a go. Now I suppose this should really go in the tutorial section except I would then need to show how to do it ( never made a tutorial before and didn't want to make one only for someone to point me in the direction of another one ) but if people like it and no-one has done one before I will give it a go. * Hope that all makes sense it did to me *

Thanks for the reply, I tried colour flip/rotate but also had no joy. Can do anyother colour combo just not black body and red roof.

Can someone be nice enough to help me with this picture. A friend is restoring the car below but wants to see different colour schemes I have managed to do all of them except a black body and red roof, how can I change those I have tried conditional hue and saturation but can't seem to get it to work. Thanks in advance.

Woops sorry, just to clarify though, I am doing some work for my mum at the moment ( felling trees ) so am using her PC a lot, it has problems. Not being able to connect to youtube or google being a mojor one as any site that has anything to do with google won't display properly ( no pics ) and this site when loading up sometimes hangs and wont connect and I just get a message in bottom corner saying "waiting for pagead2.googlesyndication.com" So I try and make mantal notes on what I need to check out when I am at work and sometimes forget. Having now seen your pictures I feel I can comment on them and they are amazing works of art, one day I hope to be that good. Would like to see the original photos if possible? The first one looks more like an alien robot type thing very cool. Another point I would like to make I am new here so spend more time trawling old posts and tut at the moment so forget to check up on the upto date stuff, sorry. Being of the older generation ( 40 this year ) I would like to think of myself as a polite person and no offence was meant.

Woops sorry Welshy no disrespect meant the "thanks for the instruction " was meant for both of you. I just added the friendly mod bit because I use another site as well and the mods there think they are gods, it was nice for a mod to not only help but give advice something I'm not used to. Oh and I missed your post on my gallery my bad it won't happen again, sorry. I am new here and spend most of my time going through all the old posts to try and get as much info as possible so I don't have to ask stupid idiot questions all the time. Still haven't got round to checking out everyones galleries but yours is next.

Yeah I got a bit lost following the instructions for step 2 as well. Here's what I did. After opening up your eye image add a new layer, now use the Eclipse selection tool. Imagine that the iris has a box drawn round it and place your pointer where the top left corner would be, hold down the left mouse button and drag to where the bottom right corner would be. Now if the circle is not correctly aligned with the eye then hold down the right button as well as the left button ( This allows you to move the selected area around to align it ) once aligned let go of the right button and increase or decrease the size of your selected region. Now to do the inner circle we must move upto the selection mode button at the top, the first circle was made with the replace mode the second uses the subtract mode so go ahead and select it. Do exactly the same for the second circle as you did for the first but this time align with the pupil, once you have done this choose the paint brush and increase size to 60 and start colouring you will see it only colours in the ring you made it doesnt matter if you go over the lines as it will be invisible. Once you are happy press ctrl + D to deselect. Now double click on the layer with the colours ( in the layers window ) and change the layer properties.

This was done after reading the "out of picture" tutorial. Thought I would try and combine 2 pics. Here are the original pics. fisherman fish and this one from the "recolor eye" tut.

Do you need a capture card on your PC or can you use a website, I remember reading in a PC mag about a site you log on to and it records what you do on your PC.

First make anew canvas 400x400 and fill it with black ( this is so you can see the ring as you make it ) Add a new layer and on this make a filled white circle Resized to 85% (was 600 x 450) - Click image to enlarge now on the same layer use the eclipse selection tool to mark out a circle inside the white circle but closer to one side. Resized to 85% (was 600 x 450) - Click image to enlarge Just get it roughly right then you can move the selected area around with the move selection (White arrow ) on the tool menu , one down from the top right hand side once its in position press ctrl and X to cut it out Resized to 85% (was 600 x 450) - Click image to enlarge then just use gaussian blur at 25 - 30 range Resized to 85% (was 600 x 450) - Click image to enlarge and then use the move tool ( Blue arrow )to squash image. Resized to 85% (was 600 x 450) - Click image to enlarge Hope this helps never made a tut before.
