  1. Was gonna give someone else a chance but as this is my first ever vertical sig couldn't wait.
  2. 1. Open image into PDN add new layer call this OUTLINE ( to name layer double click on it in the layer menu ) 2. Fill in outline with paint bucket tool, tolerance at about 65-69% 3. Turn this black by going ADJUSTMENTS>HUE/SATURATION and sliding lightness slider all the way to left. 4. With outline layer selected hit CTRL+A , CTRL+C then delete this layer by clicking on red X at bottom of layer window 5. Now you should only have one layer BACKGROUN run EFFECTS>ALPHAMASK 6. Your background image should now have a checker board where the path was 7. Now go to google and type in brick pattern and find one you like, for this example I used this one http://www.shipbrook...ics/brick08.jpg 8. Right click on the image and select copy 9. Go back to PDN and add a new layer call this BRICKS and move to the top then CTRL+V 10. Practice moving this around hold down left mouse button while pointer is inside image to move it up,down, left or right hold down right mouse button to ratate image and click on any of the little boxes with left button and drag to resize when you are finished use the back history button to return it to how it was. 11. Now with brick layer selected use EFFECTS>DISTORT>PERSPECTIVE with these settings 12. Now move this layer below your background image and move it into place 13. To make it look better add a new layer call this shadow and move to the top do as before and draw using the line tool a black box where the shadow would be ( use a bright colour if it is easier to see then turn it black like before ) 14. EFFECTS>BLUR>GAUSSIAN BLUR at about 4 then double click on this layer in the layer window and reduce the opacity until it looks good 15. You can also duplicate the background layer and turn the lower one blacl then blur it at 4 pixels and shift it a little to the right, hard to see in above pic but it does make a difference.
  3. You don't need to save the image from google, just type in brick pathway and find a image you like click on that then click on VIEW FULL SIZE once the picture is on the screen right click and select COPY then goto Paint.net and goto FILE>NEW this will automatically open a canvas at the correct size for the picture you copied from google then press CTRL+V this will paste it in. If you wish to paste it straight into your pathway image then create a new layer then move this layer below your image with the cut out area and hit CTRL+V. If it asks if you want to resize the canvas just press NO. If you still have problems I will do a tut with pictures some time tomorrow.
  4. Do you mean something like this ? If so try this tutorial most of what I did is included in it.
  5. Am I right in thinking that there are two font types one being something like true type and paint.net only recognises one of them I seem to rememer DL some fonts that woudn't show up in PDN ?
  6. Hmmm, something about the outline in yours Hougesen that I don't like and it could do with a bit of feathering. Doughty - ( csm725's tutorial ?? ) even though it looks like you have just followed the tutorial ( forgive me if I am wrong ) I still feel its the better sig. Hougesen - 0 Doughty - 1
  7. I like them both but Doughty just edges out NN79 this time with a very simple and clean looking sig ( I like the colour schemes on both by the way ) Doughty - 2 Nitenurse - 0
  8. Scooter can you not post unless voting or entering a sig please. I will challenge with this.
  9. Here's how I would do it. 1. Download the Alphamask plug in. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=1854 2.Import the pic into PDN ( this will be your background layer ) 3.Add a new layer (path cut out layer ) and using a visible colour outline the path then fill it using the paint bucket at 67-69%tolerance ( Make sure there are no gaps in your outline ) 4. Goto Adjustments>hue/Saturation and move the slider bar for lightness all the way to left ( this changes your path cut out layer to black ) 5. Ctrl+A , Ctrl+C this selects the path cut out layer and copies it to the clipboard 6. Turn this layer off and run Alphamask on your background layer, you may need to check the invert mask option ( this cuts out the path ) 7. Either make your own pathway or find a image on google and place this under your background layer 8. To make the bricks fit better use the layer rotate function or perspective plug in http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=16197
  10. Wow I like both of them, this is a hard one ( I'm a sucker for simple but effective text sigs ) and on this basis I would normally award Hougeson the point but and there is a big BUT as Welsh said the glassiness of Nightnurse sig is out of this world. Hmmmm........................Like I said a tough one but my point will have to go to.....................................Drum roll..........................NN79 Nitenurse79 - 2 Hougesen - 0
  11. Some nice works and you seem to have used a few very different tuts Keep working through them as there are some great ones here Shiny/Jewellery ones are good both Barbieq and helen have great ones here for that as are the texture creations tuts. Another tip when working on something if you get stuck for inspiration use the random effect ( don't think its a plug in ) you can find it under Effects and its at the bottom.
  12. He's back Well done to my fellow winners and all that took part, my personal fav was Dugs and feel honoured to have beaten it.
  13. Until nightnurse amends her score we will have to ignore it ( sorry ) Hi Scooter, in future could you include the total scores so far, as so. Minners - 1 Xzerizon - 0
  14. Finally got round to trying this one, jazzed it up a little though.
  15. Hi Nightnurse, you seem to have given a point to both myself and Xzerizon could you please amend your vote ( you only get one vote for either myself or Xzerizon) I would like to allow you more to give but then I would be accused of favouritism
  16. Now that the chaos has ended lets get this back up and running. The current battle is between myself with this one. and Xzerizon with his entry. So far the score is Minners - 0 Xzerizon - 0
  17. Just something I did in a PM convo with nightnurse thought I would post it for inspiration.
  18. So am I now the comp host for sig battles and if so what can I do ? I seem to be able to lock, move and merge but really need the power to edit and delete posts that break the rules.
  19. Thanks EER, I had posted that I wouldn't mind hosting this comp if no-one else does. I also sent a PM to pyrochild stating the same but if you are happy to keep an eye on whats happening here then I will take back my notice to leave
  20. Before you can host I would think you need to show that you can follow the rules ( sig battles comes to mind )
  21. I give up on sig battles whats the point after rafrollers comment.
