  1. I'm working on a worldbuilding project. Creating a large 5100x2600 world map. Currently it has 42 layers. I am constantly organising them and its very tidy. However, I just want to show my support for the layer grouping feature, and have faith in the team. Go Team, you can do it ! ;-)
  2. Thank you. I love this plug in set. I use it frequently. Recently cleaned up my drive and Windows deleted my getpaint plugins so it was a breeze to relocate the files here and reinstall. Thanks again for the wonderful pack !
  3. Hi I updated to the latest version before submitting this original post. @Pixey Thanks I have run the PdnRepair and reset my system. Unfortunately this has not helped. I tried checking the version. However when I choose "Help" "About" the same thing happens, window message seems to freeze the software. However I do know its the latest version. I think its not really about the screenshot, it was using the paste function and this is what caused the software to freeze. I use getpaint.net daily for the last eight years. The same things happens with CTRL N open a new window. I am going to try and uninstall or disable one programme I recently installed and see if it is conflicting with getpaint.net. I will get back to you shortly to see what happens. EDIT: Okay guys thanks for the help. Seemed really much like I asked but you would have never been able to really find the root of the issue because, yes, it was a conflicting programme. One that I had a trial on, because I liked the idea of it, however if it conflicts with getpaint.net I will have to not use it. The software fyi is http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/ and unfortunately its a problem on their end and I don't think any updates by getpaint.net will make the two compatible. Of course it could be to do with that I had disabled windows blinds and not uninstalled it. Maybe that's where the conflict was.

  5. Hi. I have used getpaint.net for a number of years now never I have encountered any problems. After the fews months I have been receiving more and more frequent requests to update the software. Is this normal? Onto my second dilemma. I now open up getpaint and CTRL V to paste the screenshot. But getpaint just freezes, I noticed something odd with the message window. Then windows tells me that the programme is not responded and so I shut it down. Never encountered this before so I will post a screenshot. Have a good day.
  6. Back on the forums looking for answers

  7. I would love to know if there is a tool or plug in, or effective technique for copying the translucent areas of an image? This is an original image http://www.heroworld...kshasa_Raja.jpg http://signatures.dr...o/ragarashi.png This is the image I cut out, then added blurs by using colour selection and then brushes, and the blur and motion blur tool, but its not an exact copy of the translucent areas.
  8. Okay that lighting source makes sense. I find that doing it this way it can be easy to get the light source wrong but its a technique worth improving if I am not very good at. Thanks ps thanks for the message about borders, that helps.
  9. I've seen many many sigs like this recently and especially on planetrenders.com but I didn't even realise paint.net had custome brushes. I may need to download some? and a smudge tool too? wow! Seriously I've been using paint.net for a couple of years now and this forum is really suprising me. A+ tutorial ! I might make some custom brushes, it would be very simple and cool to have a folder full of my own home made custom brushes. Can you explain further the lighting source and how this applies to paint.net. Is this render built in or is it another plug-in?
  10. How was the firey text acomplished on page 1 under the original poster? Great tutorial. IS this it ? Uploaded with ImageShack.us I am not a newbie but I could follow the process and theory of this quite easily. Its a very good tutorial and well presented. Look at all the people having fun with this now ? Amazing!
  11. I prefer Axle Mayor - 2 Axle - 3 They are very simular signatures in general terms but my opinion prefers Axle. But can't either of you make a decent border Maybe minimilist for signatures but for a competition at least two black lines hardly cut it for determining what sig looks better and was more thought out. Don't you feel borders are important? Okay I am entering my latest signature I just finished for someone who is a Might and Magic fan.
  12. Is there an advanced tutorial? I use a tablet to cut out my images and I think I do pretty well with it. Seeing as I pick HQ large pixel sized images, cut them out and then they are usually decreased in size to fit whatever project (usually signatures) that I am working on. But saying this I would really like a tutorial, or one on one, to show me how I can cut out images and yet still retain the opaque glow of things like smoke, magic dust, veils, etc... oops forgot to say Thank you .
  13. http://www.xiberpix.net/SqirlzReflect.html This software is free and should give you most the effects there. But you will find those signatures have advanced techniques of layers and animating. You might find it difficult to just create those signatures.. http://www.flamingtext.com/net-fu/dynamic.cgi?script=amazing-3d-logo&text=TWO+Limitless Try this useful website for creating fonts . There are methods of loading fonts into your windows system folder from custom font sites like dafont. But this site provided will give you basic appreciation of fonts.
  14. Yeah you were right, the cutout plugin isnt what I am after. But Thanks. (That cutout plugin works v.simular to posterize) Okay so this is what I did Open Image Black and White Gaussian Blur Curves Threshold and this is what I got. I found curves important, and although I thought blur would ruin the work even just 1 unit of blur is a difference. And the next image is what I created in Photoshop, just to give a comparison. I dealt with lighting differently. But you can see what I mean about making Paint.net images smaller. Otherwise once you make them smaller there is not much difference to the naked eye. Finally an image (done using Photoshop) with a brush on top. Just posting for interest.
  15. Okay I have used this plug-in and I am impressed with Half Tone and notably Threshold. Unfortunately there seems no instant answer, for seperating the colours for a stencil effect. It leaves a good effect, but not a pure hard cut stencil which is what I was hoping for... I managed to create this image (well actually several but I won't post em all) *maybe later* I noticed in order to get the hard cut stencil look, which seems to be evident in this picture with your advice, I did have to make the image smaller. Which in future might be a pain. Original Image... What I would have liked is something cross between my work above and This image I am not faulting your advice, it was good Yet I hope you can see the last image ^ in order to get the hard cut stencil has to be made smaller. Which in my opinion is the long way around. I would have liked to have seen someone answer "Yeah there is a cutout plugin!!" Lol. mm
