Kinetical

Hello everybody I am new to paint and it's a fantastic little piece of software. I have a photograph which I wish to use as a background in a Powerpoint presentation. Regular text will sit on top of the picture. In order for the text to be seen, I want to make the picture quite faint. How can I do this using Paint.NET?
