  1. Hi pepianel, By multiplying the width(pixels) by height(pixels) by 32, gives you an idea of the amount of memory used - I think. And that exceeded my system's memory. Now, you say 'drawings' - presumably scanned into the computer? - maybe you scanned at too high a resolution? - just a thought. For screen/web based stuff 96 dpi is fine, for print you will probably need 300 dots per inch. What is the intended final size you intend to print at? Is there any way you can work with a smaller canvas size basically. Anyway, thanks for saying thanks and good luck with the graphics (and the wedding).
  2. I just tried creating a canvas at the size you have given (8000 * 9593 at 96 dpi) and managed to crash Pdn with an out of memory exception ... it is pretty big! I would guess at it being memory problems - just a guess, I'm afraid. (I've only got 2gb memory + readyboost and on Vista). As for getting rid of adverts - Firefox with Adblock is free and very good.
  3. Hello 'artinBrooklyn', Pdn cannot batch resize - (as far as I know. - pretty sure - it's been asked before). I used to have a free resizer called 'pixresizer' that was pretty good - try searching for that. Sure there are others too. Always be careful what you download and who from though! and scan! Hope that helps.
  4. Hi Xhin, I don't use hex numbers but the way I add an effect slider would be to add double slider from 0 to 1. Then multiply the source BGRA values by this and the effect BGRA values by the inverse of it. eg. // psuedo code double Amount1 = 0; // [0,1] effect colour blend source colour double rat = Amount1;double irat = 1 - rat; // let B,G,R be the values you want on the dst canvas // let Bs,Gs,Rs be the src values // let Be,Ge,Re be the effect values you have created B = (int)((Bs * rat) + (Be * irat)); G = (int)((Gs * rat) + (Ge * irat)); R = (int)((Rs * rat) + (Re * irat)); // then recombine these (with A) and write to the dst canvas hope that helps - I'm sure there are more correct ways of doing it, but it works for me!
  5. Hi Greg, I can't think of a font that fits exactly I'm afraid. It would be possible to make up your own 'e', but bear in mind designers take ages getting fonts to look correctly balanced - it's a tricky task. I think most fonts have their origins in pen written calligraphic writing, so I would experiment on paper to try and get that look using the simplest shapes you can. Worth researching.
  6. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/23194-squirkle/ This plugin (yes one of mine sorry Pdnnoob) may help with rendering ellipses - set the exponent to 2. However, I think you may be better off using a font for aesthetic reasons. Good luck!
  7. Hi Nitenurse' & Barbieq', Thanks for saying thanks - you both deserve awards for good manners! :trophy: (me - I'm never sure what counts as a reply and what counts as bumping my own threads - so if I over-look any-ones comments, I apologise in advance.)
  8. 'fainter' P.M'ed me a while back asking for a moveable version of this plugin. I have posted another '.dll' in the first post. I also have some other plans for this so won't be adding it to the pack just yet. Let me know how you get on with this version - it does have a huge U.I - but it fits on my monitor ok! If you prefer the moveable version you will have to manually delete the fixed version's .dll from the effects folder.
  9. I agree with barbieq25, - hard to spot any 'mistake', even when you've pointed it out. Correcting it would be a bore - much better to take what you've learnt and enjoy doing a brand new one. Not that the current one isn't excellent though!
  10. Well, that's many, many times better than I/most of us could do ! Thank you - 'Liquify' is brilliant and I can see this tool being very useful too! More strength to your elbow - and if the qualifications don't go as planned - you will get 1000's of endorsements on your C.V from this forum. Many thanks - I find your plugins the most useful and ideally would like to see them 'built in' .(when I first discovered PDN, the problem was, no warping tool - a month later you created something way better!) Again thank you!
  11. Nice to see some new ones - I think 'Floral Deco' is my favourite, but all 5 good. Sorry to hear about your friend's bad news.
  12. Wow - very good violin - very tricky subject - well done!
  13. @ Helen, many thanks for being so positive - I love dandylions - so easy to grow! + I'm a Leo too! - (but not a dandy). @ Yellowman - I'm sorting out the big clickable thumbnails now - thanks to your's and pdnnoob's advice. That was my original intention when I wrote the gallery in html - then I had the nasty surprise that BBcode is different. Just got to sort out and unhide the hidden ones now (most of the pre-re-sized 'thumbnails' are already uploaded fortunately). Thanks both.
  14. PDNnoob & Yellowman, Thanks for the advice - I will do some experimenting! I thought adding to this 'older' thread would mean previous BBcode examples would be easier to see, (if others have the same question).
  15. I hope this thread is still ‘alive’ and I’m not necro-posting. O.k. – my gallery takes ages to load – I’d like it to be quicker! I started by using PDNnoob’s method of creating thumbnails, which works and is ideal for question threads. However on a gallery (with far more images) it seems to take as long to load the thumbnails as it does the full-size images. I assume the browser downloads the full image and then re-sizes it? E.E.R.’s method – I cannot get this to work and always end up with a full size image even when using the photobucket ‘s’ prefix? Ideally I would like to upload small versions of images to photobucket and have these as clickable links to the photobucket full-size page. I can easily do this in html – but cannot work out how to do this in BBcode – is it possible? Also, I had hoped that by ‘hiding’ the older images this would speed things up – but it still takes forever before the last image (my sig) gets loaded. It appears the ‘hidden’ images are still downloaded just not displayed? Any advice/examples much appreciated, thanks
  16. I've posted a few new ones at the top - mostly experiments - but vaguely interesting (I hope!).
  17. Love the latest 3, ants and ents! 'treebeard' - brilliant but make sure to put on plenty of shellac and beeswax before going out in that Spanish sun. 'Pile-Up' - wonderful. Vibrant colours but harmonius and works well .. and brings the foreground forward. Good composition and very clever manipulation of shapes. 'gemelos' - strong ideas - Dali would be proud. I really enjoy it when you post your latest creations.
  18. Downloaded, installed and quick test - works brilliantly! Many thanks for the quick fix - great effects.
  19. Well, ...many thanks in anticipation. Unfortunately I can’t download the new version (perhaps I’m being thicker than usual?). The page one download link takes me to your site and the download link there takes me back to page one here? ( the other downloads there didn’t seem to work either?) Am I making some obvious mistake here? I will install the new version when I can download it, and thanks again.
  20. Xhin – love it – I can always see the work you’ve put into these- always worth mulling over for a while. Particularly enjoy the symmetry – at first completely symmetric then you realise it isn’t – but it is – but a complex symmetry. Colours – the red/yellow/black makes me think Africa, the blue/black makes me think stain glass. Then I focus in on the middle and see a ‘face ‘. Iron Lion of Zion in a reggae church? Really pleased you have started publishing plug-ins too. Minners71 – nice image – black light halo – I like that – and the thought that Phil Collins might be trapped inside is even happier! Good gradients and I get the feeling that this is a small scene at the edge of a space ship – ‘close encounters’ fashion. Perhaps there is room for more subtle reflections in the ‘egg’? – Hinting at what can be seen outside of the canvas area – even the viewer’s reflection? (just thoughts). Careful with that new bike – personally I’d paint it rusty (red ochre) – so it looks old and no one will steal it! – (I’ve had bikes vandalised – really sad – they become ‘friends’).
  21. Alpha-threshold (allows smooth or abrupt manipulation of transparency) This plug-in is for adjusting the transparency (Alpha) of a layer which already has a range of alpha values. For instance a blurred object, intended to be used as a shadow layer. The controls are pretty self explanatory. The 'preserve ratio' check box will create a smooth transition of alpha values between the 'lo' and 'hi' thresholds. The colour gradient option is only there to see what's going on - not always easy when a nearly transparent layer is stacked amongst many other partially transparent layers. I've put it under Effects/Transparency as this seems the logical place to look for it, although technically it could be considered an adjustment. I haven’t added this to my plug-in pack yet, so if anything needs changing, let me know! The screen-shots will explain better. In my v10 plugin pack here: Red ochre v10 plugin pack Enjoy!
  22. Hello Bruce Bowyer-Smythe, Thanks for the GPU blur pack. I installed it about 2 months ago and it's very quick! Unfortunately I've been getting a few problems (see screen-shot below). This happened with the Gaussian blur, but I have had similar happen with the zoom-blur too. I expect this is the fault of my graphics card? - but I thought I should report back here incase it isn't. Fortunately I had recently saved on this occasion - so no tears, but it is worrying that the undo function made things worse rather than taking it back to a state before the plugin was run. Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS fully updated.(updated with windows auto-updates). Vista - fully updated Thanks for all the hard work.
  23. Hello zulaya, The plugin called 'random shape fill' by Pyrochild has some great choices for stars etc. Here's the link http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=10633
  24. Good work! - love the new name - perhaps a trousery icon to match! I couldn't get the 'lens artifact scale' to do anything though? Perhaps you could add the option to take the colour from the primary color (like the blue option), or do a rainbow option (colour aberation). Just ideas to play with though - thanks for sharing.
