  1. Hi Lepi, 1. Make the image an 'object' so that it is an opaque area surrounded by transparent pixels on its own layer. 2. You can then use the plugin 'outline object' to surround this object with coloured pixels. There are two versions of outline object, one by Pyrochild and one by BoltBait - both are good. 3. Repeat for each object layer and save as .pdn file (in case you need to change it later) then flatten and save in the format you need. I hope that is what you meant. Both versions of Outline object can be found via the plugin index here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/15260-plugin-index/
  2. There is a freeware program called Krita that has brushes with smoothing and works with a Wacom tablet. Here: https://krita.org/ Perhaps that's overkill? Also my 'gossamer' plugin can be used to 'smooth out' lines after they are drawn....but may not be the easiest effect to use.
  3. Have you accidentally turned anti-aliasing off? instead of (OK the forum Icons aren't working so the two icons shown look the same just try clicking the zigzag angular version into the smooth one shown.)
  4. Thank you Seerose (& MJW) and happy new year to you too.
  5. AlphaThreshold doesn't change the AA'd pixels to white so your contribution may not be in vain.
  6. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/25193-alpha-threshold-new-plugin-16th-aug-2012/ Hope that helps
  7. I have updated the "ClipDisplace" .dll (the one for Pdn 4) only. It is now called ClipDisplaceAA and now has smoothing to avoid that pixelly or 'jaggy' appearance at large displacements. Please NOTE: This will probably only work on Pdn 4.0.8 or later. Also, since I have changed the name, you will have to manually delete the original .dll called just "ClipDisplace". MJW very kindly gave me the code for how to do this. Please give him a 'rep' point if you find this update useful! See the difference between smoothed and non-smooothed below. The version for Pdn 3.5.11 remains unaltered and does not have smoothing or transparency (sorry).
  8. Absoloutely not a problem MJW! - your help with this one and the sub pixel sampling method (smoothing) for clipdisplace are very much appreciated.
  9. Congratulations to barbieq25, Lynxster4, Limon and Si Borg. All high quality festive sigs. Thanks Drew for running things... I remembered to vote this time!
  10. Good work on the website. Good luck with the business. 'Handy Mandy' sounds fun!
  11. This can do two colours http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/24397-noisechoice/ (Set Primary and Secondary colors first, then use Primary to Secondary as the colour of noise)
  12. DrawBeziers works with an array of PointFs. You may (or may not) find the source code here useful. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26464-bentley-beta-for-bezncurve-update/ I can upload the original codelab version if that's easier.
  13. Not sure if this would help? http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=26236
  14. Are you 100% sure you are copying from a layer that has an image on it? (it's very easy to accidentally copy from a transparent layer - look in the layers window to see which one is selected) - Is the layer you are pasting to set at full opacity and visible?
  15. And Thank you Seerose for all the beautiful images!
  16. Very festive! The holly decoration on the plate rim is a nice touch.
  17. Looks fantastic! - many thanks for the well written tutorial.
  18. Great results Lynxster4! I'm glad you found some of the techniques useful and pleased you are experimenting with other ideas too. Save those 'turkeys' and come back to them in a few weeks - you may see them differently. Seerose - You are a very capable Pdn user...and young at heart! Ishi - the gem shapes are all Lynxster's work (link in first post).
  19. Hello Darryl, welcome to the forum! My first choice would be to use the clone tool.http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/CloneStamp.html You could also try the 'Fill gaps' plugin http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=13595 Ninja'd
  20. Congratulations Ishi! Congratulations to all - all winners! Many thanks to Drew for stepping in at the last minute to run things. My apologies for not voting - I saw the poll was up and thought I had plenty of time think about it... then forgot! @ Racerx, I agree MJW's entry was excellent, so were many of the others. I do think you owe Ishi an apology... but sadly I doubt if you have you the required spherical objects. :orbred: :orbwhite: :Cut: The competitions are for fun... no prizes!... you may disagree with the result but why be so offensive? I really enjoyed seeing the entries in this comp... great ideas, well executed!
  21. Good work Maximilian - very interesting results! The first 'Rollo' version seems to have picked up many details that are lost in the original... texture of sleeve and detail in dark areas around the sword. The colouring in the first version of Hayley Marie Harder works really well too. Very appealing. Have you tried replacing the pure white background with a subtle rag paper texture? Good to see you experimenting. I guess it all depends on the effect you are aiming for. If you are trying to emulate a hand drawn effect then do study real hand drawn images and post an example (copyright permitting). I guess the main difficulty is that human brains create outlines around important features even when obscured but computers (Pdn plugins specifically) are limited to detecting tone or colour changes and re-interpreting them. As for artistic merit, really don't worry about it! There are only two people to please, yourself and who-ever is paying you. The role of 'artist' has changed drastically since Fox Talbot and Daguerre smuggled cameras out of the artist's studio! I would say that now, with the accessibility of digital photography, any image that has been improved by human input has artistic merit. But that's just my opinion. You have made these photographs more artistically interesting by modifying them but remember that photographs are not infallible... but I can see the difficulty in persuading the models to come over and sit for a portrait!
  22. Glad you found it useful Racerx and thanks for posting the image!
