[Help] Line gradient as offset outside of a shape?
Red ochre replied to Creed31's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Am I barking up the wrong tree?... or just barking! relevant to the image above but irrelevant if that's not what you want -
How to "poster" color portraits?
Red ochre replied to Rickenbacker's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Adjustments ð Just select the area you intend to change... or add a frame subsequently. Rectangle select is very useful! -

Alpha Threshold worth a try! - Sorry the images have been sabotaged by the terrible image hosts. -
What plugin did I use to create this?? :/
Red ochre replied to XERQ GRANITE's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
A kind and well meant offer but it does not solve the problem of people forgetting the settings of, often a succession, of effects. Personally I don't find this a great problem but if it needs solving then a 'global' solution seems best. What about the 99% of effects without a save settings option? -

Very impressive marble images from all this comp! -

Adding a save option to a default U.I. effect means rewriting it - a ton of extra work for a very minor benefit. Only a few plug-ins have this option (including my 'Scribble'...Null54 did the difficult bits!). Personally I never use the option and I don't think newer users would either... or would forget to save or where they saved it! An ability to record and save effects and adjustments used, with settings used in 'history' order, would be extremely useful. I suspect this could be done via a plugin but is way beyond me. The ideal solution would be for Rick to create an option to save the history (including effect & adjustment settings) along with the Pdn file. Sadly, I very much doubt he would have the time even if he approves of the idea. -

Very likely to be 'Helix' I.M.O. - Could take a lifetime to get the same settings so it could be easier just to remove the logo and add lines in the gaps? -
Two Tone Threshold (new 30th July 2014)
Red ochre replied to Red ochre's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Hi Vagabondi, Glad to see you making good use of Two-tone threshold! Impressive snow effect achieved in the first one. Many thanks for posting the example images and thanks for saying thanks!ð -
What? Red - surely you jest ð ShapeMaker has the close path feature and as many nodes as you like. Curing the mis-match between the shape created and what appears on the layer would be appreciated!... I meant to back-up my reasoning on the 7th of the 16th! ... but thought you'd think it was just sour grapes. A line width adjustment within the the effect will also be very useful if drawing to the current layer (or default to line-width 1px if you don't want to add to the U.I.) and when re-opening the effect, ideally the bitmap background will line up with the vector image in memory... not sure whether the effect should take the layer's/selection aspect ratio or just clip to a square? Thanks for your ongoing input!

Will the Curve and Line Tool continue to improve?
Red ochre replied to BobBlack's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
So I sign in to quote this thread in relevance to the shapemaker thread and it asks me to do the CAPTCHA ordeal and squashes my post?âđïļ Draw on canvas is currently broken (position mis-match) and needs a line width adjustment within the effect. I'm pleased TH has posted that he will address the issue.ð -

A Vettriano vibe perhaps... what's her secret? -
@E.E.R - I should have looked harder...who would expect it to be in a logical place!ð @Old Banshee (Frank) You cannot select directly by shape but you could select all shape-A's, for instance, then save that selection for later use. (See E.E.R's links). Your method of colouring the selections as objects and saving on another layer my be just as good for one image.
-
Great new images! - I particularly like the coloured tree 'texture' created in 'the bridge' image. Always enjoyable to see your latest creations.
-
Additionally, selections can be copied (Edit/Copy Selection) then pasted into a text program such as 'notepad' and saved as an '.xml' '.json' (Edit by Rick: it's actually JSON, not XML) file. They can then be re-used at a later date by copying the .xml text in notepad then using 'Edit/Paste Selection'. They remain 'vectors' until committed to the canvas - as I understand. @E.E.R. - I couldn't find this in the documentation - but I didn't search for long ;-) @old banshee - well worth reading through the docs though (press F1 while Pdn is open).

Thanks Remake! Thanks Welshblue! - Very reassuring comments... Glad to know traditional oil painting is still appreciated in a world where 'gaffer' taping a banana to a gallery wall is considered art!ðĪŠ More money than sense -

Hi Vagabondi, thanks for commenting. Time is always the problem. I must upload more recent ones, sometime. I've also got some more effects that need work. It took ages creating a website for my real paintings too: Here if you are curious. That sounds like I'm complaining - I'm not! (Learning to code in Paint.net has helped to learn html/CSS and may help when the computers finally take-over! ð) It was meant to be a driftwood tree stump btw but a dragon is more fun. Water, particularly rivers and seas do fascinate me... analogy of emotion? possibly. Life (and time) are still mysteries to me but all images need light and dark. Many thanks for the compliments, happy Christmas (Or however you mark mid-winter)...and seasons greetings to all. -
Unbeleafable! ð
