  1. HiRed ochre,

I need to know what virus protection I can use on my computer and Android phone. Norton has raised my charges again. S.S. has cut out 200.00 monthly from my S.S. So I am doing what ever I can to cut  down some charges. Can you Help me with advise? Sorry to bother you.

If you are using windows 10 or 11 then you don't need to pay for a separate virus protection program - just use the built-in Windows Defender.

If you are still using windows 8 you should be able to update to windows 10, then use Defender.

I wouldn't use Norton at all... very bad software and a waste of money in my opinion.

I cannot advise you on what to use for your Android phone... I don't have one (can't afford one!).

Probably best to ask on an Android forum?

  2. Hi Red ochre. Have not been on here in a long time. Reason I am today. It seems every time PDN does a " Update" I loose plugins. Why ?  I Hate updates! If updates are a good thing  then I would not loose the plug ins I have down loaded., It is very frustrating. I am trying to find the older version of " Point Blur". Can you help me find the plugin page for downloads? I tried but just keep getting the " Forum Page.

    Frustrated again Ms Carol

Hello @Cakie67, I hope you are keeping well.

I'm sorry but I do not know why you keep losing your plug-ins with every update.
When I update paint.net, all my plug-ins remain, but very occasionally an older one may stop working.

The best way to solve this problem will be to start a new topic in the 'Trouble shooting and bug reports' section, (the blue button). That way the experts can investigate what the problem is.
The more information they have about your computer the better the chance of this being solved.

      1. Which version of paint.net do you have? the free one, from this forum or the paid-for version from the Microsoft 'store'?
      2. What operating system does your computer use? Windows 10 or Windows 11?
      3. Do you have any anti-virus software installed?
      4. You will probably need to submit your 'Diagnostics'. To do this open paint.net, click the tiny gear wheel icon at the top right, click on the Diagnostics heading. Then click on 'Copy to clipboard' and paste that into your forum post.
      5. While you are there, what does it say if you click the heading 'Plug-in errors'?

Hi Vanilla - good to have you on the forum.

      17! - I can hardly remember being 17!

I'm sure there's loads to learn in this digital era - but try to take time to draw on paper too. Drawing skills are always useful, however technology changes in the future.

      And thanks for saying thanks!
