Been using Photoshop for years which has a strong set of tools. Decided to give Paint.NET a try. Wow! Amazing app for a small 4 MB download. Multi-core and 64-bit support, clean and usable UI. Much better experience than Gimp.
As a web designer, I don't need print capabilities (CMYK), so Paint.NET does most of what I need. However, I find some of the paint tools lacking some important features. I don't know what is planned for the next release (4) and how much emphasis is placed in strengthening the power of the tools, but I would like to request a feature that I believe most artists/designers need and that is feathering support in tools such as the clone stamp and the paint brush.
Basically, the idea is to soften the edges of these tools, i.e. blend them to alpha. I don't mean anti-aliasing. Adding a feathering or 'hardness' setting to the clone tool would make it much more effective in many scenarios, such as photo retouching. Adding the same setting to a brush would make it a 'soft' brush, etc. Another useful tool would be to allow softening the edges of an arbitrary selection, making it easy to composite and look smooth/natural with a background.
Anyhow, great app. Keep up the good work.
