  1. My old pc,(12 yrs old) has XP and has a hard time with any editting tool, photo or video. I finally managed to afford a new pc last summer and it came with Win 7 on it,lucky me,Paint.net works awesome on it and most of the time it doesn't even kick the fan on,lol. The longest I have had to wait for anything to process has been a minute or two,the fan rarely kicks on and I have mega storage with a 750 gig hard drive. I think if I installed this program on my old computer I would still be waiting for it to finish rendering my first cube in Shape 3D,lol,lol,lol,,, Once while rendering a 10 minute video on it using Sony Vegas7 it took so long that I went grocery shopping two towns away and still got back before it was done, lol. Does this mean that running Paint.net on older pc's with XP installed would be considered a form of Steam Punk? :D :D
  2. I really love these competitions so I can see myself getting in on many of these in the future. This latest one,SAC #13 has me stumped, lol,so I probably won't be entering anything in this comp. I am having a hard time in my mind bridging new tech with old. I know these ideas are imaginary but my mind won't connect the old with new. Sorry,I am at a loss of ideas on this one,I will just be a voter this time and look forward to seeing all the entries. Don't feel bad Possum,I have the same mental problem with abstracts and accidentally create some without knowing they are abstracts, lol.
  3. I kind of thought the tables were sloped a bit too much, that would make the leg look off. Another thing I was thinking about was adding a bit of distortion to the part of the leg visible thru the table, like you would get thru real glass. I'm still new and in time will be able to think of everything, lol.
  4. Thank you everyone, the picture with the blue table was bothering me too much so like Barbie says "Save",I did and was able to go back and fix it. This time around I added the cigar wrapper, lol. Now I'm happy with it,lol.
  5. Very nice pics,I really like the space ship one,it looks awesome.
  6. Thank you Barbie,I thought the stem needed to be darker too but it proved very difficult after the fact. I should have started with a darker color when I made the stem part. As for the reflection of the glass,I tried to make it look like the reflection was at a different angle, lol,I should have stuck to making it straight up and down like in the poker pic. I don't like that reflection also. It is all a learning process and I love it. I welcome all the comments and use them to help better myself in future creations. It was my first attempt at making a glass with liquid in it,next time I know what not to do,lol. I think I'll try red next time, lol,or maybe orange, hhmmm,so many possibilities.
  7. Nice pictures Julio. On the energy ribbon, you made that one from scratch to look like that google picture? If you did then I am impressed, that is awesome and now gets me pumped up more to try it,lol. I actually like yours better than the google pic, lol.
  8. I just added a picture on 4/24/11 that I made after reading "cjmcguinness" tutorial on making a poker set. When I discovered Paint.net 4 months ago I looked thru the galleries to see what was possible to make with this program. When I saw cjmcguinness's and Barbieq25's galleries I was amazed and it got me excited. I have been working my way thru tutorials since the beginning and thanks to our economy being in a slump I had lots of time to learn. After going thru the simpler ones until I gained confidence I tried Barbieq25's jewel tutorial and was shocked at what I came up with. Recently I felt I had learned enough to try cjmcguinness's poker set tutorial. I read it thru and recognized his techniques from my experiments. After reading it I opened Paint.net and started creating only this time I never had to go back and read the tutorial again. After a few ideas of my own added in,,and many layers, this new picture added today is what I came up with. I threw in a pair of dice because everyone was asking about them in his tutorial, lol, simplest thing to make using the Shape 3D plugin. Now the reflection of the dice was a different story, lol. I went back and finished the blue table I was working on and added that one also, with no gambling,lol,lol,Paint.net is enough of an addiction, lol.
  9. I see why you gave it up. They are more of a shape fill than a brush. I have a whole rack of these shapes and can't think of how I can use them. I have one that looks like a fire ball, that is the only one I might be able to do anything with right now. It was very difficult to figure out how to use this and it has limited capabilities. I am looking for something like a splatter with uniform size spots that can be adjusted in size and quantity. Best way to put it in english is to say I want a spray paint look you get from a can of spray paint,I think they sell theose all over the world so everyone should know what it looks like. Or like we have in the starter paint programs. Usually it is included as one of your tools right next to the brush or pencil tools. Grasshopper shall keep searching.
  10. I since have gone back to brushbreezy and I think I've downloaded 20 so far, lol, lol, some cool ones that might give me the end result I am looking for. I need it before the Steampunk contest, lol. I have a pretty good idea for it Barbie, wait til you see it. I think I can do it with these other brushes and it will look better, lol. Thanks for the help Ego,I love this place,I just can't stop trying to learn more. I'm addicted, heh, heh, heh, well there's worse addictions, heh, heh.
  11. Thanks for your help. I looked thru and downloaded several brush packs. Although there are some pretty good brushes out there I just don't see what I am looking for. I have been reading all day and can safely say it's not there. There also are several outdated or missing links at that link above. I am looking for the spray look you get in Windows Paint or Gimp2 but do not want to use those inferior programs to get it,lol. Kind of like from a spray can from a couple feet away, more you spray the heavier it gets. If I can do this within Paint.net while working on projects I think I can add some cool effects with some of the other plugins. Most of those brushes give the smudge look, the splatter look was close but looked too much like splatter instead of spray. The rest are more shape looks. Thanks for your help and now I have the mini brushes working so I can use them for other things.
  12. Thank you for your help, the old link for the "Custom Brushes" in your list is discontinued and it says use the "Custom Brushes Mini". I have those and will read the tutorial and learn to use them. I searched for hours, don't know how I missed your thread with all the plugins listed. It is probably stickied and I didn't look up,lol,I'm getting old, lol. I love playing with this program and can't learn enough. It just takes me a little while sometimes,I have no real technical background but do ok. Thanks again.
  13. Would that be the "Custom Brushes Mini" by Simon B ? I have that one and it doesn't work right,or I just can't figure it out, lol. All I can get are black circles that I can change the size and speed of,but no other choices. I'm looking for the spray paint look.
  14. I have looked everywhere, downloaded and installed all of the plugins available but can not find anything that resembles an Air brush. Is there such a plugin? Is it within another plugin and I can't see it? Or is there not one and it remains to be created?
  15. Steam powered alien technology? Is that what it is?
  16. You didn't specify if the sniper had to be human,lol,so I made an alien sniper starting with this picture;My link ,everything else is made by me using nothing but PDN. I am having a problem with this link so I am including my copy of the picture that I started with;
  17. I added some fractals and a Space section, more Space pictures to come.
  18. The view from an alien prison cell of the alien sky out the window and part of the cell.
  19. I tried to enter this competition but have not heard back yet or see my picture posted. Can you please check your pm's.
  20. God I love this program!!!!One drawback though,I think I'm addicted. I stayed out of Paint.net for 24 hours the other day and had withdrawals. Atleast I can recognize that I have a problem, that's the first step in my recovery. Can anyone direct me to the nearest Paint.Net Anonymous meetings for Vermont? Oh ya,check out my last 4 added today 3/31,lol,a couple are hypnotizing,be carefull, lol.
  21. Yes the last 6 in art and the heart jewels the day before, thank you Barbie I will mark them from now on. Thanks for the compliments everyone.
  22. Oh ok,sorry didn't mean too. I'll remove it from sig also,,sry m8.
