Have just started using Paint.net. I've opened a few .jpeg files taken with a Canon EOS450D, made some simple changes and 'saved as' the default file setting = .jpeg etc. I get a progress bar which suggests the application is saving the file OK. Then, I can't open these 'saved as' files either from within Paint.Net or by double clicking them and telling Windows to use Paint.net to open them. Paint.net alert message says: "The image type is not recognized, and cannot be opened." Same happens if I 'save as' .tif format.
Files show up as a generic 'file' in Explorer or on the desktop - they don't have the regular .jpeg icon against them. Files are about half the size of the originals though they have not been cropped. I'm running XP Home SP3.
Don't get the problem if I do a straight 'save'. File reopens OK.
Guidance appreciated. Thanks.
