I often find that I do print screen and then open paint.net to work with the picture. Recently it is a little better, I use the snipping tool and then open paint.net. I would love to have screen capture functionality integrated in paint.net. I think that Pickpick http://www.tucows.com/preview/510387 have done it well, they even have shortcuts for different kinds of screen captures, e.g. a region that I can control with my pointing device.
