  1. Thanks for your help Sarkut Out of curiosity I googled the same question and found another tutorial that I did understand. imported modern image and made a new layer, imported the monochrome, deselected the modern, 'select all' on the monochrome, 'paste' to new layer, jiggle it about a bit to line it up and 'flatten'...job done and one merged image! Thanks for your patience though! Best regards, Pickard.
  2. Thank you for your help Sarkut, I do appreciate it. However, I followed your instructions to the letter, and can still only see one image at a time. I can switch between the two but cant see both together in the same 'window' If I could, then no doubt I could bring them together, but alas no! How I wish I were forty years younger!
  3. No, I'm afraid I cannot get it to work. I have two images both 800X600, one is a modern colour digital the other a 1944 monochrome. I start from New, import modern image, add a layer. I then import the monochrome but only see the last selection in the layer window. I do not see both images with a added layer. I can select either image but only see or can select one at a time. And most of the commands in the menu lists are greyed out and cannot be selected. Perhaps my download is/was corrupted? None of the above remedies worked. Very frustrating indeed.
  4. Hello all, Forgive my somewhat doddering manner, but the brain is no longer as sharp as it used to be . I have an interest in photographing places where certain buildings no longer exist. I have made a collection of old photographs showing where these particular old buildings were, and then taking a modern photograph from where the original photographer once stood. I believe it is referred to as 'Then and now' I have found this Paint.Net program, and would like to move (or be dragged kicking and screaming) into the twenty first century! My problem is that when trying to merge one image over the top of another, (I'm following one of your tutorials).....it does not work for me. I am constantly getting muddled with layers and do not see the two different images I am trying to merge in the layers windows. There must be an easier way to do this for this old brain to follow. Pickard.
