  1. Howdy! First off, thanks for this marvelous program! I've wanted something like this for a while now. This may be another facet of the problem in this bug: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/17866-save-as-bug-with-repro/page__p__307063__hl__extension__fromsearch__1entry307063 When I viewed the steps to reproduce for that bug, it didn't explain the circumstances of my experience. Issue: When I save an image file in a different format, the file extension is dropped from the file name. Version: Paint.Net 3.5.5 MS Server 2003 R2 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Perform a window screen shot using <Alt>Print Scrn. 2. Open Paint.Net 3. Create a new image. 4. Paste the image from the clipboard. 5. Click on Save. 6. Leave the file name as "Untitled", select BMP (*.bmp) for "Save as type", and save the file. 7. Open the Save As... popup. The Save As popup window shows BMP (*.bmp) in the "Save as type" dropdown, but the file name is "Untitled" (note: without the .bmp extension). If the file is saved at this point, the saved file does not have an extension. 8. In the Save As... popup, change the "Save as Type" dropdown to another image file type (i.e. JPG). At this point the file name remains "Untitled", and does not have an appropriate extension. Note: If the extension is manually entered by typing it at the end of the name, the image file has the proper extension (for example: image.jpg).
