  1. thank you very much for the help boltbait and lance!! yes i noticed the lack of right click features to lol. paintshop pro used a lot of those so i got used to doing things that way. i hope they add in more right click things in the future. and ill surely be going to the help page to learn more of the keyboard shortcuts! now i guess i better go start the long task on the plug in forum, of trying to figure out what the plug ins all do and what all i need to get again. i havnt been over there in a couple years and im sooo behind lol. :\
  2. thank you very much for your help lance! i will try the 2 plug in workarounds you mentioned for 1 and 3. and thanks bunchs for how to rotate a selection!! i tried a bunch of mouse/keyboard combos the other night when i was trying to do it, but i hadnt hit on that combo yet lol. as for your info on #4... eesshhh ok im an idiot lol, i somehow missed the paste info into new layer item in the edit menu the other night. :s i dont have much time to play with my art junk anymore, and i forget half the stuff i learned in the meantime it seems. (what i was picturing for my "promote selection to new layer " feature was a right click command, as thats what i was used to in paint shop pro. sorry i didnt specify that.) your CTRL+ALT+V trick is a nice one and will be very useful, but it pastes the selection into a new image entirely, not into a new layer on the same image.
  3. hello. i would like to ask for a program feature to be added or for a plug in for some selection tools. 1 - i could really use an "expand selection" and "contract selection". with a way to select how many pixels to expand or contract by. for me anyways, this would mainly be used with the magic wand, but would also be useful for any other selection formats. 2 - i need a way to rotate a selection itself. rotating in either direction would be nice to. as it is i have to rotate and pan a whole layer to do what i need now. 3 - im not sure what to call this one lol, "shrink selection area" maybe, but i need a way to select a single item thats sitting in a layer with other items and a lot of empty space. example: say you have a cutout of a dog and a cutout of a cat on an otherwise empty layer, and you want to select only the dog, and not the cat or any of the transparent area around them. i used to use paint shop pro years ago, and in that program you could use the rectangle selection tool to broadly select things like this, then click on the used pixels inside the selection area, and the selection would shrink down around that item only. 4 - it would be very nice if there was a "promote selection to new layer" feature. it would save a lot of time, as now you have to cut the selection, make a new layer, and paste it into the new layer. thank you very much
  4. hello. i have a request for something that i at least, and i assume others, would love to have in pdn. i really need an 'expand/contract selection' function. a plugin would be great so it could be used right away, and to have it built into pdn eventualy would be great to. as it is now i could see spending hours trying to select the rough area you want with the selection tools available, then fine tune it by adding and subtracting other pixels one at a time. thats for an odd shaped selection of course. expand/contract would also be great for simple square/rectangle/round selections, for makeing fast borders etc. i know nothing about programing so im not sure if this would be easy to do or not, but if it can be done id be grateful. thanks
  5. yes that i get. what i meant was is there a way to open more than 1 image at a time in the main work space. where i can cut things or grab a color etc from 1 image and use it in another. im used to working with several images at a time, and so far this is more than difficult to do in paint.net.
  6. im new to paint.net, but not to image editing software (PSP7 was my main prog for years), so i get pretty much everything with paint.net. iv read a lot of the forum and the help file, but so far i havnt seen the answer to these questions yet. is there a way to do full screen preview in paint.net itself, or with a plugin? another thing... is there a way to open more than one image at a time in paint.net? thanks in advance for any help.
  7. hello. i have a couple of suggestions for your Kaleidoscope your picture plugin. could you add a couple sliders for selected piece vertical and horizontal movement? like in your Panelling Effect Plugin, so you can move the selected piece by small increments. i like to make animated kaleidoscopes, and it would be much easier than using 2 plugins. also i would like to suggest adding another mirror type, that would make the image match in all corners, like the attached image below. sorry i dont know what you call this mirror type. i made the image with an effect i had in paint shop pro 7, if that helps any. edit: sorry, guess i cant post animated gifs. you can see the image here tho. its my deviantart icon, a mini blue animated kaleidoscope. edit: and if you dont want to go to deviantart, my new avatar was made with this plugin. the corners all match, like the mirror i suggested adding to your plugin would do, altho i had to copy the layer and flip it and merge them etc. a new mirror would save a lot of extra steps.
  8. man you people are hard to talk to! but i now assume this is why lol. just in case it isnt... i just registered an account about 24 hours ago, but i couldnt post because everything was locked, and when i went to sign in today it said i didnt exist basicly. i had to start over and re-register. if i wasnt deleted in the above 16,000 then maybe its a bug of some sort?
