  1. Thanks sarkut, I tweaked the settings a little and I'm happy to say the image was resized and printed ok on photo paper.
  2. Hello chaps, my first post. Just discovered paint.net today for the first time. I want to create a passport size photo from a picture taken from my camera. I load the jpg into paint.net. The units are cm. paint.net shows the image as 56.44w x 42.33h. I resized the image to about 12%. That reduced it to about 6.77w x 5.08h. That's reasonably close to the size I need to crop which is 3.5w x 4.5h. What I have in mind is to create a new layer (which I did) and onto that layer add a rectangle 3.5 x 4.5. I can size the rectangle but I can't see anything that lets me set the rectangle to the exact size I'd like. Is that possible and how? After I've created the rectangle I'd like to select it and move it around the layer so I can position it roughly on top of the picture. From what I can see, once I've drawn the rectangle I can't see how to select it and drag it to a new position. Is it possible? Finally, once I've got the rectangle where I want it I will use it to crop the image which should leave me with the 3.5 x 4.5 area I'm after. I could then save the cropped jpg. Perhaps there is an easier way of doing what I'd like to do so I'd appreciate any help and advice you can give me. The objective is to print the cropped jpg onto photo quality paper in my printer which'll hopefully give me the 3.5 x 4.5 photo I'm trying to do. Edit: I forgot to mention that the original image is wider than it is high so trying to resize the original image straight off the bat to 3.5 x 4.5 makes it look "squeezed" and distorted. Many thanks. Peter.
