  1. I downloaded Kindle for PC, and while I would use your book mostly while I am at the computer (I haven't bought it yet, but I will, I promise), I would like the option to use it on my Kobo reader. There are a lot of sites on how to remove the DRM from e-books so they can be read on different devices. They say it's legal as long as it is for personal use only, but I'm wondering what you as an author think of it. It doesn't seem entirely right to me, or am I being too goody-goody?
  2. Adorable babies! Cutie 1 is especially realistic.
  3. I love Over Easy! There are so many neat details in your work. I've been having a lovely conversation with Billy form PhotoBucket about my images inking back to my album. I've posted his replies in the thread Pixey started. I'll have to check out the comments on their site.
  4. Oooh ... ColorZoomBlur ... another fave plugin, and another cool image!
  5. Hey nitenurse! Good to see you here, and I hope you will continue to participate in the comps. I could have been a lot less childish and more mature too, but I won't tell anyone if you don't. I know how a seemingly innocuous comment can hit you the wrong way, it happens to me more than I'd like to admit. This is as good a place as any to vent. My entry is back in the original entry thread, and now I have to figure out tonight's TV schedule. Why does every show I want to watch have to be on Sunday night? (Yeah, I have huge problems. Boo hoo. )
  6. Yeah, I prefer to live in ignorant bliss, and focus on useless information, which I store in my head rather well. However, I mentioned this discussion to my hubby, a paleontologist, and he said almost word for word what Rubrica said. And here's a fun fact - the first paleontologists were clergymen, who began looking for proof of God and creation, and found evidence leading to evolution instead.
  7. Congratulations Drew! I hope you didn't add the link to the world clock just for me. I'm sure there will be people new to the comps who can use it. I thought nitenurse did a great job too, and I have no idea what she meant about anyone wanting to see her leave. I don't know about re-posting my entry. I'd have to find it, and I've re-organized my files - I swear it made sense at the time! And I'm not entirely happy with it anyway. Maybe next time. Thanks guys!
  8. Great stuff! I like your kitty-cat. Welcome to the forum.
  9. I apologize. I said the wrong thing, had a mood swing, and acted childishly. I can be over-sensitive sometimes, and a particular comment hit me the wrong way. My intention was to poke fun at myself and my being numerically challenged. I thought there might be other people like myself, who don't hold numbers in their heads very well. I did not intend to dictate anything. Nitenurse, I never meant you should change anything. You've done a great job hosting the competition, and I would like to see you stay on. I don't think I will participate because I hate the thought that something I said would cause so much trouble.
  10. This comment seemed to imply that. And, sorry, I meant to say host.
  11. Thank you for the offer, but I'm not interested in hosting a competition right now. In fact, I'm not really interested in participating anymore either. It has ceased to be fun for me when the moderator feels free to imply that I'm stupid.
  12. Actually, I thought maybe it was the people who voted after the deadline who had a problem with GMT. And I'm not insisting, I'm suggesting.
  13. I like the glassy look of the bottles / vases. I think I understand what dug is saying. Don't ask me to explain it though.
  14. May I suggest adding a link to The World Clock in the entry thread? http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ Some people (me! ) are easily confused by the time zones.
  15. Very nice images! I love using Blend Modes Plus. yellowman has a tutorial using 3D Object. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20778-make-cool-abstracts/?hl=object
  16. I like both versions. The sepia frame gives it a nice contrast, and the first one looks neat with the frame as part of the image.
  17. Thanks dug. The only 'cure' for clipwarp would be a new, equally cool plugin, and even then I'd add it to the list of my other addictions.
  18. ...by spending the winter in Florida. Even people who were born here do that.
  19. I am so sorry to hear about barbieq's dad. That's a tough one. My condolences. Welshy, I hope things are going well for your family. This South African guy claims he thought his girlfriend was an intruder. Is it common for people to break into a house, go into the bathroom, and lock the door? I've never heard of that. I'm not naming him because in all these cases we hear more about the perpetrator than the victims. I believe in some of these cases there truly are mental health issues, and having mental health problems myself I can see it. To a point, and not to see people get off without any consequences. We also have a responsibility to know there is a problem and get help for it before it comes to violence. And there needs to be help readily available. I wish they had the Kids' Help Phone when I was a kid. Some things might have been different.
  20. @Daniels - thank you. How many layers? It depends what I start with. If it's a simple image I'll follow Red ochre's instructions in the plugin thread. I start with a background image, duplicate it and blur it or something. Then add a layer with text or a shape and run Object Edge, and run clipwarp with the blurred image on the clipboard. So 3 or 4 layers, because I will duplicate things and experiment. For the B&W ones, I started with a hex grid and a checkerboard, ran Shaped Gradient on each, then used clipwarp in different combinations, so I ended up with about 10 layers and got 4 images out of it. A lot of layers are trying different things and I keep them all for further messing around. Any more than that and I get confused, even when I name the layers. @Helen - thank you. Yeah, shiny things - I'm so easily distracted. Forget ADD, this is serious ADOS - Attention Deficit ... Oooh, Shiny! @Sasha - thank you. I just love playing with clipwarp and seeing what happens. And then combining it with some of my other fave plugins. @Red ochre - thank you. I couldn't do it without you and your plugins. Imgur gave them the titles. My name for that one is clipwarp_rays - still not catchy, but it tells it like it is. Light rays for the object, and for the background along with Shaped Gradient. I've played with that one a lot too.
  21. Yeah, I got mine working, and if I can do it anyone can. There's an icon at the top of the reply window between eraser and font, if you click it you get special BBcodes and thumbnail is one of them. I like that because I don't have to worry about spelling.
  22. Industrial Strength looks good, very - um - industrial. I like the B&W puzzle too, and the stone text. This is a great place for learning, from tutorials and from each other.
  23. I got stuck to my computer chair. Added a couple of new pieces I've been playing with.
