Thank you for your reply. That helped, but then there's a line where the adjustments were made. I wish the adjustments would fade to the edge of the selected area. Is there a way to blend along the edge?

Is it possible to adjust contrast, brightness, etc. for only part of a picture? In my case, the bottom 2/3 of the picture looks good, but I want to modify the top portion of the picture. All adjustments seem to apply to all of the picture
