  1. Hello, Not sure if this is the place for this question, so please move or delete. On a crashed computer, I thought for sure I had downloaded a plug in that would fade the edge of an image into transparency and the width and gradient of the fade effect could be adjusted. I can't seem to find the plugin I thought was called 'fade edge'...or something like that. Is there such a plugin? TIA
  2. This is an AMAZING Resource!!! Thank you so much for not only taking the TIME (our most precious resource!) to put this list together and the links for each plug-in, not only organized by NAME, but Author (wow), but for investing the additional time to keep it current. I just changed computers (MOBO Death) and haven't had a chance to pull out the HD to move all my work over yet, so I was freaking out when I had to download PDN to a new computer and find all those plugins again. Your work has saved me an incredible amount of MY time, and I hope that I am one day able to pass-it-on. Thank You AGAIN!!!!
  3. Hi, I searched for a way, but couldn't find one, to place short cut buttons on the menu line for actions in the drop down menu items that I use repetitively. Had to modify 200+ pics and for such tasks would have found it useful and time saving. Is there a way? If not, is there a way to suggest this feature. For tasks that are highly repetitive or frequently used, it would be great to be able to be able to selectively place hot buttons for those tasks to the menu bar, and then remove them later when not used. Thanks, Don
  4. Hi, Thanks for the response. I did find a tool that I either missed or didn’t explore thoroughly…it’s in Effects>Photo>Shadow/Highlight Recovery. After playing with it a bit, I have posted the following Before/After picture and annotated the results. For purposes of this post and example, I maximized the setting to exaggerate its results. An unexpected, but pleasant, effect of this tool is the B/A result in bringing out the lost detail in the shirt. The texture of the shirt was lost due to overexposure in the original pic, but was revealed by this tool. Also, in the second ‘After’ picture, I adjusted the ‘Shadow’ tool and it brought out the lost detail of the coat in the far shoulder (also noted). Overall, what really pleases me about this tool is that in making its adjustments, it leaves the majority of the photo unaffected, but does a nice job of zeroing in on the areas needing the manipulation. One of the things that was interesting to me is that the ‘Basic’ Highlight adjustment provided better results in diminishing the highlights than the Advanced. This tool gets rid of some of the ‘glare’ produced by the flash, but not all. Still curious if anyone using PDN has any other ‘tricks’ for getting any better results for eliminating the glare seen in this example.
  5. Greetings, I primarily use Paint to edit photos. The work many of you do with Paint to create images is absolutely astounding...hope to have the time to learn that, but for now, it helps me to edit and clean up photographs. I have a photograph that was taken at night of someones face fairly close and the flash creates a glare I would like to try to minimize. I have searched the forum for similar topics and found none. I have also been through all the 'Adjustments' and 'Effects' I currently have loaded, but haven't found anything that (based on my understanding) can help with this task. Would greatly appreciate any ideas. Thanks. Don
  6. Sounds like a plan. Guess I would need to know how to select just the background without selecting the object in the picture.
  7. Hello, I am new to this forum and paint.net and am in TOTAL awe of the progam, the plugins, the art work produced etc. Being a new user to this type of program, I have had a reasonably easy time finding my way around the program, but I am stumped now and need a little help. I took a picture and would like to modify the background without affecting the object that the picture is focused on. My camera is an older 2.1 mega pixel and it leaves the background of the picture more grainy than I would like. I would like to 'smooth' the backgound, getting rid of the imperfection (dust) etc, without affecting the object of the photograph. Is it possible for someone to give me some steps to follow, or even direct me to a tutorial in the forum or elsewhere (I looked but no luck). Thanks in advance.
