  1. those scales look awesome! if it wasn't too dark those could pass for some legit reddish scales.... also the left eye is baller, but then there is all that weird contrast stuff that I would probably end up getting too, let me guess, the light side was the right side... also updated portals, credits to the guy who made the hardwood floor tut the guy who made that steel background tut the rest I did myself, nothing copy and pasted except for GLADOS in the background, I have to say, I'm gonna take pics from my house and work on this, and then make a real life portal, I'll have to supersize it, I'm having soooo much fun with this concept Hidden Content: EDIT: forgot to mention that I messed up the blue portal, everything that you see inside it should be flipped about 90 degrees
  2. Axle: that looks like it fits great, but it seems like the top of the head got cut off just a little bit Possum Roadkill: that hummingbird looked amazing, I'm personally impressed, only thing I don't really "understand" in the pic is the four little crown shaped water splashed going down with the water.. RHoward: those recoloring are amazing, the only thing that isn't convincing is the eyes on the second one, but besides that it could easily pass for a legit photo that got smudged up a bit. here's my attempt, I posted them in the abstract, but someone recommended to post them here They are the portals from the video game "portal". I whipped them up in about 10-20 minutes. As far as a the sloppy renders, you can see the white outline a bit on the portals, but when I redo them I know an easy way to fix it. Next time I do it I'll increase the canvas size and do a more elaborate one with a more abstract environment, this was a rough draft... as far as making them you just get a thick orange/blue circle. throw in a gradient with color burn i believe, above the portal layer, and then it will ideally be a little darker on top. make about 3 duplicates of the original portal. have one select the portal and the inside of it, do some low scale dents. for the next layer, scale up the dents a bit and twist them a bit for a wispy look. the third duplicate is for any other effect you want. merge them down. you should have a transparent orange/blue portal and have no problem with putting what you want in the background, and then what you want in the portal... orange portal (original) Hidden Content: blue portal (just used the color flip/rotate plugin) Hidden Content: any criticism besides the sloppy render that I did lol, this was all done in paint.net except the brick wall and the great wall of china obviously
  3. sokagirl, looks awesome, kind of like a spider web.... well I just whipped these up in about 10 minutes, next time I'll have to make sure I render them better since it's incredibly easy due to high contrast, or I'll take 20 seconds to find a way where I don't have to cut them out... They are the portals from the game "Portal" someone shot a portal at a brick wall, and then the exit was the great wall of china  I'll probably come back to this someday and make them less choppy, they have to be more twisted too orange portal (original) Hidden Content: blue portal (just used the color flip/rotate plugin) Hidden Content: any criticism besides the sloppy render that I did lol, this was all done in paint.net except the brick wall and the great wall of china obviously
  4. here's my incredibly sloppy attempt at making it realistic.... I took all the photos from the opposite angle I was supposed to, and I took one center shot... so instead of unhooking my monitor again and taking the pictures of the background from the proper angle I decide just to rotate the tv and ghoul, it did add a more 3d effect, but the tv looks more choppy... the idea is that it's not a tv anymore, it's a computer monitor, and someone's playing fallout 3 with 3d glasses on lol... the picture in the background is my computer room, used to be my sister room, that's why it's purple Hidden Content:
  5. that's perfect for an iPod touch, I might use that, it's better then the defaults
  6. to the person above, i like the design/texture, but I don't like it as a desktop background because it's too dark for my liking... also I am a "noob" so my opinion doesn't matter I've been using paint.net casually for about a year now, and I want to start to get into it more because it's an awesome program... anyways, I snatched a couple renders online because I suck at cutting renders (I have to work on that) and I created this desktop... I took the left 4 dead logos, the rest I made myself pic of my desktop (by the way paint.net just got added onto my desktop[/suckingup]) if anybody wants to use it....???? lol it'll make my day if someone does also photobucket shrunk it a ton EDIT: sorry, I read the rules, but not the advanced critique one... my bad
