I do like the checkered background... I don't know what you did differently, but I couldn't get the outline to match as shown in the tutorial. I had to mess with the rotate and zoom to get the outline to match the edges. Still not perfect, but close.

I used two different photos for this I tried to use a little blur to make it look a little more 3D. The frame could have turned out better and the jungle should have been angled a little more but it turned out okay.

I added a little water reflection. Thought it made it look as if you could actually reach out and touch it.

This is my first try: But it needed some depth to it. Something to make it stand out. Here is what I ended up with. What do you think?

Here is my first try at it... I felt it was missing something, so I messed with some effects...not sure which ones, but I ended with this

My first go at it. I added a space background and a starry background which added the specks in the explosion.
