Thanks. I opened a new file to test and this time the 3 pixels in the image came up as different shades. The first time I tried the whole image was the same colour and this is what stumped me. Guess i had coloured it all in previously or something.

I have been trying to follow tutorials for 3D/glass buttons but there are always parts which are not explained clearly. The current one I am looking at starts by making an image 1 pixel wide and 3 pixels high. The first and third pixels are coloured with one colour and the middle one with a different colour. However, there is no explanation of how you do this. Can anyone explain how you colour individual pixels separately ?
