Thank you, Ego Eram Reputo. That link pointed me to a plugin that lets me accomplish this with psd.

I know this can be done with pdn, but I often find myself using multiple graphics editors on a single image, and seeing as paint.NET is the only graphics editor that uses pdn, it would be useful to be able to save TIFF files with multiple layers.
