  1. Hi, Hope! I split your post off from the other thread, as that one was rather old (see forum rule #11) As for your question, AA's Assistant is intended for smoothing out object edges (places where there is a sharp change in transparency) If your image is entirely opaque, AA's Assistant will do nothing for you. That is why, in the original thread, I had the person use Grim Color Reaper to remove the black lines before using AA's Assistant.
  2. You can also type your text the way you want it on a separate layer, then copy it and use Alpha mask to cut out the text on the original image.
  3. Paint.net has little to no control over the tutorials people post to youtube. If people wish to post their own youtube tutorials here on the forum, the tutorials section is a perfectly appropriate place for that. It's totally up to the video creators to post here if they wish.
  4. In fact, if you want to save the trouble of manually using the rectangle tool to get at the edges, you can use the magic wand tool to select what you need a measurement of and it will give you the dimensions of the bounding rectangle in the info bar at the bottom of your screen. EDIT: I've been ninja'd! Putting the information into a spreadsheet automatically is a different story altogether. I don't know if that is within the capabilities of a plugin, but if it is, I know several plugin authors around here that would be able to figure it out faster than I can type a response.
  5. Pixel art is, by the most bare-bones definition, just art that is drawn pixel by pixel. It's more about the style, however, than the method. I like to use layers, for example, as seen in this tutorial I made a while back: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26910-emotes-pixel-art-with-layers/ Most of the tutorial itself is pixel art too.
  6. Oh. If you are just making selections, then plugins won't be able to help much. If you know the dimensions of the area you wish to crop and it is either in a corner or the center of the edge, you could use the "resize canvas" tool (ctrl+shift+r), but otherwise, you're just going to have to manually select things.
  7. There is not, unfortunately. If you can give details for what exactly you are doing, maybe there are workarounds for your case in particular. For example, if you are trying to align an image with the edge of the canvas, this plugin might be helpful.
  8. Nope. It checks out: Nice work on the fire!
  9. This is not currently an option. Your best bet right now is to look at the thumbnail at the top of the window, which is 65x48px As long as your image is that size or less, it will be shown at 100% in the thumbnail. Otherwise, you can hold ctrl and scroll with your mouse wheel to quickly zoom in and out.
  10. Andreas has been inactive since 2013, so chances are, he won't be responding any time soon. Why don't you post what you have so far and we'll try to diagnose the problem from there?
  11. As there is no application process to become a moderator here, letters of recommendation are not very helpful. Like EER said, moderators are selected by the staff members when moderators are needed. There's nothing else to it. In general, if you wish to be in a position of authority, you need at least to understand how the place works. Bluntly put, a moderator who doesn't even know the rules would be quite pointless. Given the number of rule violations you have committed, I don't think you are even at that level yet.
  12. Fluid just wants to view the image at an angle. Sorry. There is currently no option to do this. Your best bet is to increase the canvas size, then rotate using rotate/zoom (ctrl+shift+z) If all you need is to rotate in 90 degree increments, you can do that without making anything blurry using the rotation tools under the "Image" menu.
  13. The selection options already exist in the "edit" menu For your other suggestion, it sounds like you are asking for the movement of selected pixels to blend the selection with the original image. Generally, that's not how professional photo-editing software works and would be considered "unexpected behavior," which just causes confusion and complaints. There exists a tool for that already, too. See the documentation for information on how to use layers.
  14. Moved your question to a more appropriate location. Here's a good place to start: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12193-how-to-use-images-in-your-posts-signatures-and-avatars/
  15. It sounds like you have your selection mode set to "subtractive" In the toolbar at the top, you can change it back to the normal selection mode (see the paint.net documentation for more details)
  16. I don't see how making a background white can be much simpler than adding a layer and filling it with white... If you just want the white on your final product, you could just save as a 24-bit png file so it doesn't include the transparency values As far as the canvas resizing goes, Paint.net will fill in the empty area only on the original image layer. That means if you open an image, the initial layer containing the image will be the one that gets filled in when you resize canvas. You could add a new layer, copy the image to the new one, and use the original layer as your white background; but that would be more work than simply filling in the background unless you find yourself resizing canvas multiple times. Personally, I think it should fill in the new canvas area on the selected layer, but as of now that is not how it works.
  17. That may be my most linked-to topic outside of the forum rules
  18. This is an old thread, and the original poster hasn't been online since February. While your input is appreciated, it seems the person with the question has moved on. Closing the thread (see rule#11) It wasn't really about Paint.net, anyways
  19. It's been done: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=10056
  20. There's a "force restart" button that will shut it down in a jiffy.
  21. Paint.net just made it to the front page of imgur http://imgur.com/gallery/BUgcd
  22. I like to turn the widening radius down to 0, then set the blur radius to the same number as the highest offset distance.
  23. You have to first draw your mask, then copy it to the clipboard (select the entire layer containing your mask and hit ctrl+c), then make sure "paste from clipboard" is checked when you use the alpha mask plugin. Unfortunately, that means you can't edit the mask and see live updates on the canvas. Your other option is to simply use the eraser and gradient tools to make your mask. I'm not entirely certain what you mean by that second question. How much and what type of drop shadow you use really depends on what you are using it on/for.
  24. Sounds very much like your computer is just unable to handle that many undo operations at once. Try undoing one thing at a time instead. I was also unable to reproduce the crash.
