  5. when I try to add the gimp .exe gimp opens up except it gives me an error message.
  6. Hey guys thanks for the support. I don't exactly know how I can improve on the alpha mask part to help you, but If I find a way I will let you know. It would help if you posted results then I could better help. If any of you guys need help in any other way I would be glad to help BTW: IT it my 100th post *highfives all around*
  7. It's not really critical that you use align object. You should only use it If you want it in the center like I do. If you use align object the way I said It shouldn't make your edges jagged because It moves the whole image, It doesnt distort it in any way. btw: nice background
  8. Hey guys thanks so much for the comments. I am really glad you like the effect, and all your examples look great.
  9. Ok ill have to do that tomorow. It is really late here.
  10. hey guys this is the MSNBC style effect. I hope you like it. You should end up with something like this Plugins Needed: Clouds: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2105&hilit=clouds Pixelate +: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=24195 Multicolored Gradien viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23040&hilit=gradient Align Object viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4900&hilit=align 1. Open a new image I am using a desktop size of 1280 by 800 2. Next use the clouds plug in with these effects (make sure your primary color is set to black) You should end up with something like this 3. Next use pixelate+ :Pixelate: cell width:1 Cell height:200 Sample Method:GIMP 4. Now select on of the four boxes. The jagged part in your image that kind of looks like a box 5. Now delete all the other 3 boxes with the rectangle select tool 6. On the box that you did not delete (the one I circled in red above). Select that box with the rectangle select tool, and then use the move selected pixels tool:MoveTool: use the bottom node to stretch out the selection to the bottom of the screen. 7. Now its time to sharpen the image the image 10 8. Create a new layer :AddNewLayer: 9. Use the multicolored gradient plugin on the new layer to make it look like a rainbow 10. Set the rainbow layer mode to overlay 11. Duplicate the layer 12. Flatten the image (It is critical you flatten the image do not just merge the layers down because then you will lose a lot of brightnesss) 13. Then I am going to flip the image horizontally just because I want purple to be coming from the left 14. Use the lasso tool :LassoTool: to cut out the shape you want from that image 15. CTRL-I. Invert the selection 16. Delete the selection 17. Now its time to do a motion blur of 100 with a 90 degree angle make sure you have the center box checked You should have an image like this 18. Use align object to put the rainbow squiggly thing in the center of the picture Now its time to create the background 18. Create a new layer :AddNewLayer: 19. Move that layer down behind the rainbow squiggly thing  to make it the background 20. Set the primary color:#28188F and the secondary color to black 21. make a radial gradient on that background Ok now your finished. You should end up with something like this. Ok, Guys I hope you liked the tutorial. Pleas leave your questions, comment, and your examples please. I would LOVE to know what you think
