I am avoiding upgrading to SP3 as so far I have seen no reason to install it (as I have all the previous security patches anyway) but mostly I have read so many stories of it breaking so many things (drivers, security software etc.) I would prefer having SP2 as the base level and instructions on how to install the Indows installer (although sure I already have that as part of Microsoft updates?)
