so far with either example al i get it a screen full of blue and red. can anyone give a little more detailed TUT

how would you go about making pictures like the obama "change" campaign? i am not trying to make this a political threat, i just would like to use the effect for other pictures. thanks i nadvance for anyone who might be able to make a tut on this.
