You can add to your current selection by holding down ctrl while using a selection tool.
If you're trying to cut out objects, you might also try searching the forum for "alpha masking" and see what comes up.

transparent mode paste function? I would think that might be equated to the Overlay blending mode. What you'll probably want to do is write your text, then paste your cross-hatch pattern over it in a new layer and change the layer's blending mode to Overlay.

tHs: I would suggest getting rid of the current side-thingies altogether, and substituting a chrome-ized 'suspension frame' type thing, like the Golden Gate Bridge only in chrome. Actually, that's not a very good way of putting it, but I can't come up with any better ways. You get what I mean?

Ok, here's the end product (click for larger image):
I have a 1280X800 version, but Photobucket won't allow anything that large, for whatever reason.
Not quite sure what to call it yet, any ideas?

Essentially, I just used Ash's Gemstones V2 tut and put it onto the star shape, did some layers/blending modes, and added highlights.
Wow, that makes it sound ridiculously easy. :oops:

That's terrific for a first attempt. I agree with Down, though, the gray bars don't quite seem to fit. I would recommend changing the color, maybe to a lighter red, and drawing (in a new layer) a curvy white line. Make the line taper by using motion blur, and adjust the layer opacity down to where it looks good.

Renders are allowable, and the piece is still technically "100% PDN" even if all you did was render something. However, a render should just be your starting point, i.e., I use clouds as the starting point for my signature.

Any possibility you could make the .NET framework into a U3 app as well, so that you don't need .NET to be previously installed before running PdN?

Looks like you might be able to do something with hexagrid, then fiddle with it for awhile (use various types of distortion). The Hexagonal Grid is a plugin, so search for it in the plugins forum.

I'm not sure what you mean, but you may be looking for the Bevel or Bevel Selection plugins.

I believe that several people have asked for photoshop plugin support to be included in PdN natively, but Rick has declined, at least for the moment. I don't know if it would be possible to make a plugin to do it.

Yeah, like zooming - no history record at all, since you can always toggle the thing back on again.
But maybe there's some reason not to do it that we don't know about?

Great light saber. For the planets, try making them a bit smaller ( or the rings larger). They seem a bit out of proportion. Otherwise good stuff. :wink:
Thanks! Yeah, the planets were kinda quickie stuff. I'm gonna have to come up with a better texture for them.
@Kemaru: Yeah, you're probably right about the interior. I might put some work into that sometime.

You can resize any image you have open in Paint.NET by going to Image->Resize. Enter your values into the boxes. If you don't want your image to be warped, check the "maintain aspect ratio" box. However, if you're making the image larger, you may end up with some loss of quality, due to the nature of bitmap images.
