    Never mind. Indeed I had a look at it. .NET Framework is up and running, and other solutions do not seem to fit my type of problem here.

    Windows Vista business, .net 3.0 sp1, the error during install tells: Windows Installer: The System is unable to open the specified device or specified file. I updated to .net 3.0 sp1 after the error occured and hoped it'd fix it. I also tried to run the installation in admin mode or with uac disabled, no luck :-(
