  1. Here is my latest- I made a palm leaf earlier and thought this would a nice way to display it. Here is the leaf I used-
  2. How about ` Purple Haze ' . Really nice pic.I like the faint ring of clouds around the planet.
  3. There`s some lovely stuff here , especially the glossy bubbles.
  4. Thanks very much. I did curve a couple of leaves but not too much so as to spoil it.
  5. Well I`ve finished `making out' with my first palm leaf and here is the result. Hope you like it. If you can see anything I might have done better or differently please say so. The one thing I did do different was with the stem.I instead of using the Bevel plug in I drew a thin white line along the top of the stem and used Gaussian blur on a low setting.
  6. Thats nice . No monkey? If you look carefully at mine you will notice that the Drop Shadow on the letter is not exactly brilliant either. But as this was my first go I concentrated on actually getting it finished .It is something that is easy enough to sort out another time.
  7. Thanks very much. I seem to be a bit obsessed with Vista !
  8. Not sure what you mean exactly but thanks anyway!
  9. You use the rounded rectangle tool when you first draw it out.
  10. You use the rounded rectangle tool when you first draw it out.
  11. Thanks. I was not sure if it was an updated version or not. As soon as I have time I`ll get it sorted.
  12. I tried this tut but my Gradient Bars is totally different to the one used in it- I am using PDN 3.36 so I am up to date. Where could I get the same one? I cannot angle the bars very well in mine but yours seems much more configurable. Apologies if this is the wrong place to be asking this type of question, but I wasn`t sure.
  13. Well here is my first attempt at a Kiosk Orb. I just used a letter to get started. I don`t think the shadow of the G is quite right though. Needs some work.
  14. I also think doing it manually is a great way to learn about layers, shadows etc. It`s all part of the fun of the program.
  15. Think I`ve worked it out. I duplicated the layer with the object (in my case just a letter as its my first attempt and I just want to get one done) Then I used the rotate/zoom on that layer to position the shadow where I wanted it. Magic wand to select it and colour it black(the letter is red). Then move the layer down so its underneath the original layer, play around with the settings a bit to get it looking as shadow like as possible and that`s it. Done. Seems a fiddly way to do it but unless there is a plug in its the only way I can think of. This ones going to have to go in my gallery - I`ve been at it for ages! Thanks for your help anyway. Heck !I havn`t had time to write this post out yet! Thanks Dave. Seems like I got it right in the end. You`ve just confirmed that with your post. Thanks for all the help guys.
  16. I sure do! Got loads of `em. Including the Dropshadow you referred to. If you look on the Kiosk Orb tut towards the end a bottle is added and a shadow included to make it look better. Is this done with the Dropshadow plug in and if so how? I can widen the shadow directly behind an object but can`t work out how to angle it as in the tut.Duplicating and using rotate/zoom possibly?
  17. Sorry if I seem a bit soft in the head but is there a shadow plug in? I am trying to finish the Kiosk Orb tut and want to add a shadow of the image inside just like in the tut. I have searched a number of times but cannot find anything. I do have the Water Reflections,Wet Floor reflection and Drop Shadow plug in`s. Is one of these used to create the shadow? I have tried Drop Shadow but cannot work out how to angle the shadow away from the object. I only need the shadow to finish it. Any help would be much appreciated.
  18. I have only started using PDN recently and some of the pics are amazing. I just tried as many tutorials as possible to start with and I also found that going on You Tube and watching some of the tuts on there was a great help, especially the ZeroDayPhoto series which takes you through the basics and more. Once you`ve watched a few vids and done a few tuts from the forums you will surprise yourself with what you can do.Enjoy.
  19. I made this last night and thought it would look nice on the desktop-
  20. Here is another one. I think the great thing about these is that it is almost impossible to make the same thing twice. There is always a slight difference somewhere along the line that gives you a completely different image. This one is my wallpaper at the moment. No doubt I will come up with something else to take its place.I followed this tut to start off- viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23915 and then did my own thing after step 10.There was definitely a couple of layer flips both horizontal and vertical and I struck on the colours by chance when inverted them to see what would happen. I think it started out blue/green.
  21. I have always fancied trying to recreate the Vista wallpaper but up to now have not had much success. Then I had a go at an abstract for a change and came up with this - I rather like it and will be trying to reproduce it slightly larger so it fits the screen properly.
  22. Thanks for that. Now I know where I was going wrong. I was trying to use the plugin to create the mask.
  23. I just downloaded the Alpha Mask Import plug in and was using it with this tutorial- viewtopic.php?t=3031&highlight=chrome I did the first step and adjusted the luminosity in curves. Then I tried to save the mask but it is at this point where I am not sure if I did the right thing- causing the crash. I went to the effects menu and opened the plugin and gave the mask a name and clicked on OK. Then a small window opened up saying it was rendering but nothing was happening and it stayed at 0% so I clicked on cancel at which point the program crashed. Should I have saved as a normal file without using the plugin at this point or am I supposed to use it to save the mask? I noticed the `browse' option . Do I browse for a file that has been saved the normal way using the plug in and the reason it was not rendering was because there was nothing to render? I have had this plug in recommended to me and would like to be able to use it properly. If someone could just clear this up for me it would be most helpful.
