  1. First new one for a while and the first with PDN4. This one I call Valley Views - for obvious reasons. It is my take on a view of Uranus from the moon Miranda. It is not an accurate render , more a stylized view. It`s part photo-manip , partly created from scratch .
  2. Nice tut Pixey. I have already had a go at cj`s film tut before so this completes the set nicely. One to try out.
  3. A mutlicoloured black hole (work that one out!) and a blue moon. I think very original is a nicer way of describing these.
  4. Unfortunately I have had a problem with window sizes as well. I don`t know if it had anything to do with it but I had just updated Boltbait`s HueSat+ and GridMaker plugins. When I closed PDN last I had it maximized but after I had updated it opened up minimized. I have included an image and the diagnostics - Application paint.net 4.0.3 (Final 4.3.5316.40022) Build Date 22 July 2014 Hardware accelerated rendering (GPU) True Animations True DPI 96.00 (1.00x scale) Language en-GB OS Windows 8 (6.2.9200.0) .NET Runtime 4.0.30319.18449 Physical Memory 7,848 MB CPU Intel® Core i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz Architecture x64 (64-bit) Process Mode 64-bit Speed ~2394 MHz Cores / Threads 4 Features DEP, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4_1, SSE4_2, XSAVE Video Card Intel® HD Graphics Family Dedicated Video RAM 96 MB Dedicated System RAM 0 MB Shared System RAM 1,696 MB Vendor ID 0x8086 Device ID 0x0A16 Subsystem ID 0x079B1025 Revision 9 LUID 0x00007EC8 Flags None Outputs 1 Video Card Microsoft Basic Render Driver Dedicated Video RAM 0 MB Dedicated System RAM 0 MB Shared System RAM 256 MB Vendor ID 0x1414 Device ID 0x008C Subsystem ID 0x00000000 Revision 0 LUID 0x00008050 Flags Software Outputs 0 I know it is quite easy to just maximize PDN again with one click but as others seem to be having probs I thought I would mention it.
  5. Great tutorial. Got to try this one out. ☺
  6. Thanks Boltbait. Turns out all I needed to do was adjust the tolerance to 70% and selecting and deselecting it with the Magic Wand worked fine. Sorry to bother you. All these years using PDN and I STILL get things wrong!
  7. I think I have found a bug, either with the Magic Wand or the Text Tool or both, I`m not sure. I was starting a text image at the time. Here are the steps I took - To begin with on the background layer I used the Paint Bucket to colour it DBDBDB - a light grey. I then added a new layer and on this I wrote my text in colour 6D6D6D - a slightly darker grey - using the Corpulant Caps BRK font , size 200. The next thing I wanted to do was select each individual letter and move it slightly on the image to get a more random look. So , using the magic wand I selected the first one and moved it. But when I had deselected it the outline of the letter was still showing in the place it used to be. I tried this with a couple of others and the same thing happened each time. I have taken a screenshot of the image and posted it below. Hopefully you will be able to see what I am referring to. You get a better view with the image full size. Whether this is a problem with the text tool or just the Magic Wand I do not know but I thought I would mention it anyway.
  8. I was working on an image the other day and while I don't often use it , it would have been handy for what I was doing at the time. The best way round it is to add a layer, create the shape you want with the line tool, select it, move to the layer below and do what you need to. Hopefully we'll get it back in a future update.
  9. Yep, it remembers my positions as well. instead of just closing using the red x try going to File>Exit and see how that works.
  10. Great new update Rick , thanks. Expanding on what vvye has just said, what I would like to see is the image history saved in the same way that layers are so you don`t lose it if you have to close the program. Usually I try to keep it going and just minimize when I am finished what I am doing and use sleep instead of shutting down the PC. But sometimes - like Windows Update times - the laptop has to restart which means shutting down PDN and losing my history. If that`s not possible automatically then how about a setting to be able to do it manually? Exporting it from PDN say to save in a file . We already have PDN User Files in Documents which is created when you install the program and several plug ins use this already. That way you would not use up too much memory. Just a thought.
  11. Amazing! So realistic. If I never knew better I would swear this was a photo. Really impressive stuff Pixey.
  12. I think it looks great. Clouds are really well done and I love the way you can see the colours of the sunrise just before it appears above the horizon. Background stars are awesome. Really realistic and I noted how some behind the cloud cover were coloured to match. You were right about the pixelated tree though but it only really shows up when viewed full size. Great image.
  13. Yes Barbie is right. I tend to make sure I close any files I no longer need as I am working. That way there is minimal hassle when you want to close the program. Unless of course what you mean is that could there be one reminder for all open unsaved files instead of having a separate reminder for each image. But then even this could lead to accidental loss of progress. I think it is best left as it is.
  14. Thanks Rick. My one little gripe is that v4 never automatically checked for the new version when I opened it. I had to manually check even though the box for auto check was ticked. Only a minor problem I know but I thought I better mention it.
  15. All I would like to see is a scrollable window for when there are so many plugins the list goes off the screen at the bottom. That arrow drives me nuts sometimes. If you are not careful where you click you end up opening the bottom most effect on show at the time instead of going down further to the plugin you need. Don`t know if this will ever be possible in PDN though or I`m sure we would have had this by now. If it is possible with v4 I would love to see it. Recently used/favourite plugins is a nice idea .
  16. Very well explained CC. It never occurred to me that you might want to do several different effects within the selection. Now I can see the benefit of the Finish button.
  17. Thanks Rick I see what you mean now. I just thought it would be the same with every tool though. For example if you use the Gradients tool and click on Finish it does finish, so why can`t it work with Selections as well? Is it a coding thing?
  18. I think I have found a bug with the Finish button when using selections. I just tried using the Ellipse Select tool to select an image and rotate it. Once I have moved it I can finish the selection using the Deselect button or by pressing the Enter key but if I try clicking on the new Finish icon which is supposed to commit the tool changes it does not work. The marching ants remain and the image still selected. This is the case with either the Ellipse or Rectangle select tool. Is this supposed to happen or is it really a bug?
  19. Just had another try with Curtis`s plugin pack and this time Rounded Rectangle seems to be working fine and Effects Lab is now listed although I have not tried it out. Just like you minty Blur Map, Displacement Map, Channel Mask and Equations do not work although as I don`t recall ever using them I am not too bothered. The main thing I wanted was RR .
  20. Effects Lab seems to be part of Curtis`s Plugin Pack, last updated for PDN 3.5.4 according to the title of his thread. So I would not be surprised if it was not compatible with v4.0. -- I have still have copies of all my 3.5.11 plugins so I tried Curtis`s and in the PDN4 settings they came up as a error so that confirms it. A real shame because I made extensive use of his Rounded Rectangle plugin which also is no longer compatible. Guess we`ll just have to wait and hope his pack is updated.
  21. I notice that the latest version of your plugin pack no longer has the pyrochild.effects.REQUIRED.dll included. Does this mean I can delete the one I have now when I update them?
