Thank you very much, but I am still having a lot of trouble, since if I even open the "open file" window, and click "cancel," the program crashes. Would that be fixed by removing the files in the folder? Edit: That must be the case, since I just emptied my folder and it works now. Thank you! Double edit: It seems if I have nearly anything in My Documents, it crashes. Uh-oh...

Every time I try to save or open a file, the program crashes. I read that this sort of error often accompanies corrupted fonts, but I have not installed any fonts. I also have not installed any plug-ins - in fact, I only put Paint.NET on this computer last night.
