You mean if the color of the drop shadow would be that dark turquoise like the top edge of the buttons? (The color I started with?) Good idea - when I get time, I see if I can try it out. I should have the PDN file with all the levels open and no drop shadow added yet. So it shouldn't be too much work to do that. Just let me know if I got you right before i start. Thanks for the feedback, I feel quite honored that "someone like you" even took notice!

Set of glass buttons following the tut for Round Glass Buttons; here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4289
  3. Wonderful tut. Don't know if I can do it "by heart" yet, but I know where to find it. Hope this isn't considered necroposting. Edit on August 19th: Someone suggested I make a whole set of buttons, so I did. Here it is:
  4. Good tut, thanks! Here's my result (just following the tut 100%)
  5. You've got quite an eye, Ash! I wouldn't have seen it if you hadn't pointed it out. ~ Now I can't "unsee" it.

Easy beginner's tut for my class (mostly 9 years old ones), using the Circle Pattern tut and playing with it.
  7. This is not a special PDN question, but requires just a bit HTML. You can look it up here (it's right on this page of the site): http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp
  8. But how!? That's awesome dude! I don't understand the texture but it looks awesome. I have the feeling you misunderstood Grizzle's "7/10". Guess he was rating the sig above him.... .....and nobody commented on the one I posted right after his.... *cry* Okay, next time I will avoid posting right after Grizzle!

    Ash

....waiting patiently for Ash to write a tut on how to do this, one fine day....
  10. Coooool! (...though I don't particularly like Ms. Theron - but then, that's not your or her fault.. *lol*) 9/10 Here's one I just made for a little contest:
  11. You're so full of good ideas, I admire that! And you do great signatures. But I like the wallpapers even better!

Thank you Grizzle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Updated the entry post; signatures.
  13. Stunning pictures!!! I love color so much, and then of course, I just MUST love your pictures, they are so colorful, yet never flashy or *intrusive* in any way. My favourite is the Peacock .... along with quite a few of the other ones, it's hard for me to decide which one I like best!

Thanks so much for the appreciation, but I can't believe you said that. I'm not an artist at all... just a playful soul who likes to take it easy! This first picture up there was really easy to do -- actually I had done this technique some years ago, following a PS tut (so you see, it's not even my own "invention"). It was not 100% reproducable in PDN, but I did my best, and I am also quite happy with the result. But really, *artist* is not a term that would suit me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today I played a bit with the Gradient Polygon tut.
  15. This is my result. Very nice tut - simple to follow, yet leaves a lot of room to play around and experiment with! *thumbsup* ...and this was my mud:
  16. Thanks LFC4EVER .... as to your point 1) ...oh dear I was struggling very long to get the outline of the object right. I wouldn't have made it to date if not BoltBait had jumped in with some good advice! (Thanks to you BB!) ...and as to pt 2) ... I just clicked on the link and will see if I'll be able to do it that way. (Just bookmarked this page now!) For me, it's all about learning how to handle the program properly (yes, I love learning in itself!), less with the aim of doing some own artistic work (I'm just an arts appreciator, not an artist), but more so in order to be able to teach my class / workshop kids the basics. They are only between 9 and 10, and just started out to learn how to use a computer properly but are terribly looking forward to our new workshop (the last one was about MS Word, also just some basics ... but I guess they will have SO much more fun doing pictures!) ... so what I'm doing here, is just for my own leisure and pleasure and also in order to acquire enough security in using PDN. I appreciate so much how helpful all of you are!!!
  17. Thanks Majeh, I'll try that right now and see how far I get with this method. I am just beginning to understand how to use the MW. 2 years ago, when I first got introduced to graphics (generally speaking) and did a systematical course in P'shop for beginners, I used the MW only very rarely, as the cropping was mostly done using the lasso tool. So here that's kind of my first encounter with the MW. I'll let you know how it went (by editing this post later). Edit1: As my stock picture was a jpg, the whole pic turned b/w when I did what you suggested! Edit2: But what I found to also be possible is: after the selection of the colored object is complete, you can stay on the same layer and just invert the selection (ctrl + I) and then click on the correction -> choose b/w. This way the whole pic turns b/w with the exception of the object you want to remain colored. In case you don't have any special plans for your colored object which ask for a new layer, this would be faster.
  18. After struggling so many days with the glass text tut, I found this one especially relaxing! Okay, also this one has its little traps, especially when you don't have so much experience with what the Magic Wand does and why and how... but.. all of a sudden it dawned on me that there are different ways as to how I want the MW to operate (maybe this is a useful hint for those who asked a related question on the page(s) before and didn't get a really proper answer or might not have found it). It's NOT done with only playing around with the tolerance, but as well it's important which way you choose the MW to operate. The "mode"... As in my pic (simple as it seems on the first glance!) there are so many various shades of red my MW also only selected just some parts, and by pressing ctrl while clicking on other parts, I got more and more "ants" running around im my colored area. That's not what you wish for, though! In the case of my flower I wish for only ONE line around the contour of the red petal to operate as the selection. So I invested about 30-40 minutes of getting there .. how? By changing the selection mode to "add" and then clicking patiently into the inner areas where I had kind of "seperate" selections going. From my first try I was aware that these "inner selections" would exclude the color from staying colored, so I patiently clicked on all the various shades of the lighter and darker red, the orange, the yellow.. and the "ants" got less and less... until in the end, I really ended up with that ONE selection around the whole petal. It requires some patience though... but in the end it's worthwhile. Adding the curves effect, I didn't do too much to the picture, but in adding glow I changed to these settings: radius =4; brightness = -35 (minus); contrast = 40. Now I like my pic!
  19. I made another one, this time trying to experiment a bit more with the pic. Here's what I got: I'm still not happy with the text part .. too orderly, not as fuzzy edges as shown in the tut. Maybe I am using "wrong" fonts? Or does anybody have a suggestion how I could get the "flames" more like flaming out of the letters? Haven't found a way to do it yet... to my own dismay. So, my playing around with the pic as a whole was kind of compensation for that, in order to make up a bit on what I think is still lacking on the clouds/text layer.
  20. Thanks - that looks great! I'll try it out as soon as I get some quiet moments!

Thank you to Crimson. He/she(?) helped me yesterday and today with creating the kind of "frame" around a picture which used to be my favourite one when I still was a PS user. For practising reasons, I took the picture from a "too easy" tut and tried to get the kind of frame I wanted. Thanks again, Crimson, for patiently explaining how to do it!
  22. Ah, thanks for the hint, will try that immediately! Edit: Tried it - turns out invisible as well....
  23. I also was interested to see how one could go about that, and i tried exactly what you suggested, Curmudgeon.... however my text turned just invisible. Could that be the desired effect? I mean, why type a text when afterwards you turn it invisible? So I thought maybe Taco_Maniac might be looking for something like outlined, or maybe try to give the text kind of a "glassy" effect? Just my 2 cents...
  24. Oh thanks Curmudgeon! So I did the right thing, kind of instinctively! Thanks for explaining also what HSV stands for (English is not my first language, so when I work out a tut, there's also always a considerable portiion of guessing involved...)
