100% means that it scales up to 100%, then stops.
Window means that it scales up to the entire window, however it only goes up to 100%.
Hope this helps.

Wrong outline effect. Try looking under the Effects/Object menu for "Outline Object" (assuming you have downloaded and installed the plugin: Outline Object v2.6 )
This is not really a Troubleshooting or Bug issue, so I'll move this to the paint.net discussion area.
It works! Thank you!

Every time I try to make a outlined text, the actual picture disappears after it renders.
Here is what I do:
1. Open up picture in Paint.net
2. Make new layer
3. Type what i want on the new layer
4. I click effects->stylize->outline
5. adjust the settings
6. Boom, my picture is gone with the text looking gargled.
Picture of what is happening below. What is the correct way of adding outline to text? Why is it that hard to do? I tried the plugins and they do not work.
Thanks in advance.

Can someone redirect me to a plugin that can swap palettes? Or could someone possibly make it? What I mean I is I edit sprites and I need a simple way to swap colors of the sprites so I want to be able to swap their palettes easily. Like if I was doing Pokemon, I could swap Umbreon with Arceus; idk I know what I want just not how to explain it.

I was wondering if there was any function similar to "slices" in photoshop. Thx.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a screenshot program which copies the image to the clipboard. I was looking for a way to start paint.net, paste the image from the clipboard into the new instance, and then crop to selection (ctrl+shift+x). If I could automate these commands, I could set a windows hotkey a batch file to do something like:
paintnet.exe /keypress ctrl+v /keypress y /keypress ctrl+shift+x
Then I could quickly make my changes and move on. no big deal, I just like to automate things

i use pdn to create a lot of impromptu tutorials for our software customers. Is there a command line I can use to open pdn, get the image off the clipboard, and size the canvas (ctrl+shift+x)? Or any combination? I am just looking to streamline the process.
Thanks!
How to crop and resize without distorting the image??

This is a super old thread, but one more thing to contribute. If you have a picture selected using the "rectangle select" or whatever you chose, you can keep the aspect ratio the same when dragging the corners by holding the shift key as you drag the item smaller or larger.
Hold shift key while dragging corners to resize item to keep aspect ratio the same.
