Whenever I paste a large image on a small canvas, it never gives me the option to keep the canvas the same size. Any way around this?

Ok, I did this bofore but it was out of luck. How do you get an image part to match its canvas size, then drag it around without erasing it to pick the part you want to meet the demensions... Like selecting what part you want. Thanks!
