hmm. True. That would be more difficult, but the bubble tutorial still might help, as glass and bubbles tend to have highlights in the same places. my method takes a good while, though. :?

Over the past two or three days, I've worked on two images. This one is lineart for a picture I'm going to work on after the tree is done. and this is what I have so far on the tree. I'm really liking it, with the exception of the ends of the branches, some of which look like they're cut out of a plank of wood. I'm using a coloring method that I have just thought of in the past few days. IMO, it adds texture and accuracy that other techniques couldn't provide. the only downside: it takes a truly long time. I must have spent about 5 hours on the wood, minimum. well, here it is, clicking will give you a larger image: resizing problem fixed, thanks to Ash!

Something I didn't know until recently, perhaps I'm just clueless, or perhaps this is looked over, but here is my tip: [ reduces the size of your brush by one pixel and ] increases the size of the brush by one pixel. Both of them make the size change by five pixels if you press control at the same time. It's a bit faster than going up to the panel in my opinion.

the only things that stood out to me as odd were the lack of shadows in the picture and where the curl up was-the way how it lays flat on one side and that it doesn't start on the top of the pad. Actually, only the first thing was immediately noticeable for me. Other than that, it was quite realistic, especially the nice detail of the ball at the end of the clip
