[A Basic Hip Hop Style Photo in 8 EASY Steps]

Hip Hop Style Photos

List of needs:

Duotone Light by Kris VDM > Here

Tupac Hand Font (otpional) > Here

Outline Object by Pyrochild > Here

Step 1

Firstly, because this lies in photo and image touch-ups, you'll need to take a picture of yourself.

Choose a pose or position of yourself that looks most hip-hop like or even copy a famous artist's picture.

I used a Lil Wayne Picture.

And got this:

Just about any pose will do.

Here's what your finished image will look like:

Step 2

Once you have your image, open it, and go to adjustments: Black And White (ctrl+shift+g)

Really easy step, no need for a screenshot.

Step 3

Here's your ink style of the photo. Simple as is this whole process.

Run Effects > Artistic > Ink Sketch

Set your settings to:

Ink Outline: 50

Coloring: 75

You should get something like this:

Adding in color. Here's where you'll actually be putting one color in the picture.

Simple as it is, just run Adjustments > Duotone Light

Leave your first color as black if you want a result like mine.

Set your second color as whatever color you want. I chose a maize or yellow color,

but with less saturation, but you can do whatever color you want as long as it's

on your spectrum.

Here's what I got:

Step 4

Adding in the text is a relatively easy part. I chose to use TuPac's most famous

track's title, Changes. Gotta give credits to him for his writing style.

Just type whatever you need.

Add a layer and type your name or something without anti-alias.

Step 5

Go to effects > object > Oultine Object.

Set your color as black, leave the width at 2, and set your softness at 253.

You'll get something like this:

Step 6

Adding in the lights is a fun process. Here's where you get fancy schmancy.

Add a layer and select the paintbrush tool. Set your width between 15 and 20.

You can variate if you want. I will just to show you the outcome. Click the

paintbrush tool to make dots around and on the text. As long as you added a

new layer, your text will be safe. Set your color as the basis of your color

you used in step 3. Because I used a yellow with a bit less saturation, I'll

use just plain yellow.

Here's my result:

Step 7

Now you'll be blurring the lights. Go to effects > blurs > gaussian blur. Set

your gaussian blur between 20 and 25.

Result:

Final Step (8)

Duplicate the layer from step 7 and flatten your image.

There you go!

Hello! I am Old Valiken, an animator, and I've been using PDN for about 4 or 5 months now. It's easier and smaller than Photoshop so yeah, and I've got lots of pics to show you! Most of the things I created were for forums like userbars, avatars, and signatures. Well here's my progress that I wouldn't have obtained without your tutorials! Thank you PDN members!
