  1. Thank-you so much! Any hints as to what is to come of this plugin?
  2. Use a semi transparent gradient for that. That is, on a new layer make your secondary colour completely transparent (by clicking more in the 'colors' window then moving the slider that is in the bottom right hand corner to the far left until the number says '0') make your primary colour cyan #00FFFF. Then draw a radial gradient while holding , the circle one , just out side the perimeter of the button (move as necessary) then use the Align object plugin in the bottom middle selection. You may need to duplicate the layer to make it look right then play withthe transparency of the duplicate. Edit: Woah LJXD that's heaps good!
  3. I think you might find this helpful Creating Light/Shadows onto objects. Also Kiosk Orbs, Making a small (but fancy) Orb and generally anything in the tutorial section with the word 'Orb' it should help you. And Boltbait's Polygon Plugin will help you with the arrow. Tip: Remember to save it as a pdn every 3 minutes and add a number on the end [Play1, Play2, Play3 etc] so you can see your progress and change little bits in the future without having to start over again. Edit: Align object is also an awesome plugin that would help you center the arrow. Alpha Masking (This is How to use them if your don't know) wouldn't hurt to get antialiased edges.
  4. This is a good Tutorial which I think would give the same effect your looking for with a bit of playing around. Edit: And maybe a tiny bit of bulge and as pipp said Dropshadow (be sure to read the page)
  5. Heh... I thought you started a new topic!
  6. This is a good idea but it would work much better if all plugin makers separated there effects into different DLLs. Otherwise people might want to keep an plugin that uses the same dll as a plugin they don't want to use.

I always like to use dark and light gradients in most of my backgrounds. Orignal With Light and dark gradient It seems to add another element. And borders are also awesome.
  8. It's already been suggested Click (third one down)
  9. The picture below shows you how to use the plugin.
  10. My First idea I thought of the above UI idea before on Another Topic. While I still think it's a brilliant idea (just quietly  ) I remembered something barkbark said I thought this was a crazy idea (not in a good way). If I got my vertical axis right and I didn't know which of the number boxes was which I risked losing my perfect place. Then just today I thought about it again. What if the simplistic functionality of the sliders were still there but the sliders were not. For example you could hold control then left click and drag to go vertical and shift (I used shift for horizontal because when you're zoomed into an image and the scroll bar appears at the bottom you use shift and scroll to move horizontally) then left click and drag to go horizontal (and obviously just left click and drag for both). My Second idea Basically the same as the current GUI but with a bigger box (for more accuracy) and a button to hide the choose center options (for more viewing space). My Third idea This idea is a full canvas one that could either be like that save window (maximized of course) or remove the availability of the toolbars (and add the effect functionality) then restore them when 'cancel' or 'ok' is clicked. This is sort of like a GIANT square (again more accuracy) and obviously a lot more viewing space. Notice how the horizontal arrow clicky things are rotated 90degrees and how the status bar tells you about how to use the effect. And as usual the outline of the center chooser would still have the white outline on it I just didn't put it on there. I would love to see any other UI creations that anybody else has thought of for v4 of pdn. Thanks for the idea barkbark ! Please comment your ideas, say what you like about the ideas and why etc. (Man I'm hungry) Edit: Not hungry anymore, a few spelling errors, added words at the bottom of the big one, added little clickable images, better explanation of second idea, added first idea picture, and other stuff
  11. For the background He probably used the Light Rays Plugin then radial blur. Then use a gradient with primary colour yellow secondary colour transparent and draw a gradient. For the text he probably wrote his text then used Drop shadow (This will add other effects but you can delete the one you don't want (but remember to keep the framework dll as well as the drop shadow one)). Then duplicate and radial blur the bottom text layer. For the country he probably used the Displacement and Alpha Mask plugin with the Spain flag (the alpha mask being the country in black and white). Here's How to use Alpha Masks how to use displacement is in the plugin link. Then just make the border with anti aliasing turned off.
  12. Perhaps you've zoomed in which can make the edges jagged. Press Ctrl+Shift+A. Are they still Jaggy? Oh and make sure the box next to the type size says smooth (instead of sharp).

    GEMSTONE V2 !

I used clouds, duplicate Rotate/Zoom, and layer properties to make it a little different Ash I love your Aqua gem, can't wait til V3! Click for larger view
  14. Rick I think it would be a good idea to put this in FAQs. I know that you can find out how to restore windows in the 'Help topics' but the people who wouldn't think to look in the windows menu won't find it. (Unless of course they looked through the entire thing.)
  15. How about duplicating the layer, using brightness/contrast to make the edges on the top layer look like the bottom layer. Then cut out the middle (the bits that aren't hazy) and use true feather on it (that's in Boltbait's plugin pack). Edit: I've got a better Idea. 1 Make a New layer 2 Set you primary colour to white and secondary to transparent 3 Draw a gradient like this 4 New Layer 5 Draw another gradient on the other side 6 Adjust opacity accordingly Final results (I used two gradients on the top left in this picture)
  16. Thanks for the plugin! Can this please be moved to the 'Object' menu as it has a few widely used plugins that go into it (so nobody would only have 1 item in the menu). My distort menu, (and I imagine many other peoples) are very cluttered and I think it would fit well into the objects menu as the plugins in that menu need to be used on a layer that has some sort of transparency. Anybody agree?
  17. Have you tried just deleting the old Paint.NET folder to the recycle bin then installing the newest version of pdn? If that doesn't work then return the Paint.NET folder and read this topic... http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=243 And this one if that doesn't work... http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=854
  18. OK this makes sense because brand new people might not know how to change the amount of transparency of a colour. Then again they probably wouldn't know how to make a transparent gradient either, but I see the reasoning behind this (inversing the amount of transparency of the second colour). Thanks for the explanation!
  19. Whenever I try to use the transparent gradient tool with the primary colour black (100% opaque) and secondary colour transparent (at any transparency) weird results show up differing from what would happen if there was two completely opaque colours. Can somebody please explain what is happening? Thank-you.
  20. I don't know how hard this would be to implement but I think this is a very good idea.
  21. Select the colour (with magic wand, rectangle selct, etc) that you don't want to affect and press Ctrl+i then continue with what you want to do.
  22. This Palette is made from several others (Tango (bob), Jerkfight's, thehamster's, and Skin Tone Pallet (Sabrown100)) mixed together, changed slightly and reorganized so it looks like this: Colour Palette.zip
