  1. Yeah, I'd use APNG except that I only know of one browser that supports it. Besides, I've seen high-quality GIF animations, so I know it's possible to make an animator capable of saving them. I don't know if it's easy, though, which is why I worded my initial request as a question.
  2. Is there any way you can the ability to save animations at higher quality levels? This is a good plug-in, but... I tried using it and it dithered an 8-color image. :?
  3. Perhaps you could bring back the ability to save icons with multiple, differently-sized images without using a transparency-based hack... What you could do is, have the user name each layer -- the 48x48 icon layer would be named "48x48", the 32x32 icon layer would be named "32x32", etc. -- and then just add an option that would have the plug-in check the layer names at runtime.

Anyway... Navigate to this key: HKEY_USERS\[whichever one you are]\Software\Paint.NET And delete these values: PaintDotNet.PngFileType PaintDotNet.JpgFileType Really, any key that looks like this: PaintDotNet.[FileType]FileType BUT DO NOT DELETE PaintDotNet.PdnFileType!! Then, repeat
