  1. I'm not Rhona but I also am using Paint.NET to teach kids intro. to computer graphics. They love it. I would be thrilled to see some kid friendly tutorials! They really like morphing things together (especially animals) and the primary issue is with blending and feathering them at the point of juncture (where the two pieces come together). But really, any basic skills tutorial would be so helpful. I always spend the first 15-20 minutes explaining the new skill (and demonstrating it on the overhead screen) but there are always certain students who need to have it re-explained to them (sometimes repeatedly). It would be fantastic to be able to point them to a tutorial as a back up. I think some of them need to have the written and visual aids for their own learning style. Thanks for all of your hard work on this great program. We (my kids and I) very much appreciate it!! Heather
  2. Thanks for the advice. Yes, the GIMP was originally my choice for a program when I knew I was going to teach this class but I decided that Paint.net was easier and more likely to not intimidate my students. I think I will just tell them that they can move on to GIMP if they find Paint.net to be too limited.
  3. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I have to meet with my tech guy to get Paint.net loaded on my classroom computers and I know that I will need to also load a bunch of plugins. I was wondering if anyone has gathered together a "best-of" set of plugins that can all be downloaded at once to make the whole process less of a hassle on so many machines?
  4. Sorry, yes, what I meant was that they were much more enthusiastic about a free program than they were about buying PhotoShop for a zillion dollars.
  5. I am just starting the process of introducing many, many students to this program and I am desperately trying to transition myself from PhotoShop over to Paint.net (the price of this program suited the school budget perfectly). The one feature I am having the most trouble living without is the Feather feature. I have tried the plugin but I find it to be a little clunky and time consuming and I am longing for the ease of the PS version of this tool (I'm especially addicted to getting it by right-clicking and finding it there along with cut, copy and paste). Just wanted to ask if this might someday be added? Thanks.
  6. Thank you for your help! I am slated to teach a class using this software starting on Friday and I am madly trying to transition from my Photoshop world to this in time to not make an utter fool of myself!!
  7. Not the magic wand which requires the color range to be adjacent, but rather a color range that covers the whole image?
  8. How do I apply a flip horizontal or vertical to just a selection of pixels and not the whole image or layer?
