  1. First of all, don't ask me why I'm always posting these at night. Second, I got a new concept for an Audio Jungle wallpaper, and I think it's pretty nifty. Anyways, I saw this awesome pic of a gramaphone (scroll down for stock image if you don't know what it is), and it inspired me to make this. Click! Stocks used: Gramaphone Flower Hummingbird Any ideas on how to improve this one? I personally think it is the worst out of all three I have created so far.
  2. Thanks for the tip Nab, I'll make it a bit darker.
  3. Thanks LJXD. Anyways, the contest allows for multiple entries. Since the jaguar one was almost pretty much done, I decided to start another one. I for one, think this is a brilliant concept. It's like a jungle, a forest of microphones, and I had a snake wrapped around one of them. Once again, I used the Rule of Thirds, and depth of field. I think it turned out okay, but I still need advice for this one as well, because it needs some improvement. Click nao! I used 3 stocks. The microphone, the snake, and the background snakeskin texture. Advanced critique highly appreciated.
  4. I know. That's what it means. The symbol is pronounce "mei," which is Chinese "beautiful."
  5. Yeah, good point. I'll fix that. Well, the legs are technically "behind" the head, and my view of field of depth is distance, not position. :o I don't know. I'll see if it looks better if I do it your way.
  6. Yeah, its a jaguar. I also applied depth of field.
  7. Actually, I added the leaf after a string of other changes brought up by my fellow PDNers. I just thought about it, and I thought it would fit more appropriately here. The previous versions are in Desktop Art. There I list all the stocks used and stuff, so you can judge my 1337ness.
  8. I thought this would actually be the more appropriate place to post this, since I am looking for constructive criticism and advice on how to improve this piece. I added some texture-ish details on the left side. It's a palm tree leaf, which can be found here. Click here. You'll help stop global warming too!* *okay not really.
  9. I think I'll just add some minor decorative details on the left ... But I also left that space empty because I was positioning the jaguar based on the Rule of Thirds.
  10. Now the question is, do y'all think this is good enough to be a wallpaper, in your own opinion? Lol, I said "y'all."
  11. I don't know what to say about this one because I don't know what you did in PDN and what you did in PS. Looks very nice, simple and modern, but I think this would more appropriately belong under "Interfaces." I think. _______________________________________ My turn! So, I took you people's advice, and tried to improve my wallpaper. I added more foliage in the background, while making the light source better. I tried to fix the headphone/ear thingy, but I couldn't. I also connected the headphones to the AJ Logo with a wire, so it's kinda like a mp3 player. Tell me what you think! Clicky! The stock for the foliage is here. Please, I need constructive criticism. Lots of it.

Great! Looking forward to your next WIP. Unless you pull an all in one on us again. coughtransformerscough
  14. Yes, it was an awesome shot to begin with, made working with it a lot easier. Thanks. I had to look at another image to see what it would look like with his/her eyes closed, because my previous attempts had failed. I was thinking about putting more in the upper right hand corner, just to make it look like the light was shining through the foliage. And maybe some more around the bottom too. Yeah, I know. I'm satisfied with the right ear (our right), but not the left ear. However, that would take serious editing of the jaguar, something I'm not sure I'm ready for. On a separate note, do you think the wallpaper is too dark? I was trying to go for deep, mysterious jungle type setting.
  15. @Rocknroll: It's nice, but a little simple for my tastes. Also, the thing in the bottom right hand corner is a little blurry. Other than that, pretty good! Well, I decided to attempt to make a wallpaper for the PSDTuts Audio Jungle Wallpaper Contest. It's going pretty well so far, but I'm not sure if it's done yet. So, I turn to my trusty advisors: the people of the PDN Forums. Now, the file size was >1MB, and the image host I used has horrible thumbnails, so I'll just post a text link. Click here! I used three stocks, which can be found here, here, and here. If you want to see the other submissions, go here.
  16. But that's not really a photo manipulation, since it's not a photo. An example of what I would consider a real photo manipulation is my signature.
  17. That would fall under skinning. In fact, the MSC has already had a PDN skinning competition.
  18. Wow, that's sweet. When I first saw it, I thought it looked like a loading animation too. Nice job.
  19. I like how you turned the treble* and bass* clefs* into hearts, very creative. *(sp?)
  20. First of all, please read the forum rules. This forum is reserved for tutorial publishing only. A more proper place to post this would be in the General Discussion and Questions forum. As for your question, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you perhaps elaborate more?
  21. You should select the Shape3D.dll by clicking on it once. Then, hit the extract button at the top. A dialog should come up, asking you where you want to extract the file to. Navigate to C:/Program Files/Paint.NET/Effects, and then hit okay. The next time you start up Paint.NET, Shape3D will be in the Effects menu. If Paint.NET is currently open, restart for the changes to take effect. Hope this helps!
  22. Grats Jake. A well deserved win. Creative and nicely executed. Well done!
  23. Hello, welcome to the forums! For the border: Use the rectangle tool ( ) To turn photos black and white: Go to Adjustments > Black and White ( ) or Ctrl + Shift + G To add text: Use the text tool ( ) To blur: Go to Effects > Blurs > (select the type of blur) blur certain areas: Duplicate the layer ( :DuplicateLayer: ), blur the top layer to your liking, and then use transparency gradients ( :AlphaChannel: ) to fade it out. Check out the 'Fading/Blending: Gradient tool on a Camaro Picture' tutorial in the tutorials section. This could also be used to make collages, with different photos on different layers. Or you could try layer blending modes (press F4). The magic wand tool is very useful. It selects portions of the image with a similar color to that of the pixel that you clicked on. It will select more or less, depending on the tolerance you set it to at the top of the window. For example, if you set it to 100% tolerance, it will select all of the image, because you tolerate everything. However, setting it to 0% tolerance will make it only select pixels of the exact same value as the one you clicked on. The purple/blue tinge that it creates, surrounded by the marching ants border, is the selection that the magic wand makes. Hope this helps!
