  1. haven't seen a "feather edge" plugin... there's Feather plugin from BoltBait or Fade Edge plugin from KrisVDM
  2. there's also a fade edge plugin if you want to try it...works good for square/rectangular shapes
  3. after you make a selection, change to the (move selection tool) you should then see the nubs at all 4 corners and sides
  4. That just looks like it was done with the old version of Ed's Crystalize plugin...the new version of Crystalize plugin incorporated into Paint.NET might not be able to do it
  5. have you ever tried the Clouds plugin by Sepcot? http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2105 IMHO, this produces a much more realistic looking cloud
  6. yes, it's possible...don't think there's any plugins to automate it, yet it took me about 5 minutes to get this far using line tool, panelling plugin, mirror plugin, rounded rectangle and move tool...if the separate components are on different layers, it makes erasing overlapping parts easy by magic-wand selecting one layer and using erasing in the selection on a different layer
  7. Ctrl+A to select the image, then and grab one of the corners and resize at will (hold down shift as you do it if you want same aspect ratio)
  8. here's one I did about 2 years ago, lowering the guy's Subaru http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=22214#p134321
  9. if you resize it will distort it since it's going from rectangle to square...best option would be to use canvas size instead. read here (found when you press F1 while using Paint.NET)
  10. Relative newbie to Paint.net, so hope someone can help me - apologies if I'm being really stupid too. I can manage fine with this tut up the first point above. Following the tutorial to the letter, it says to create a new layer, and then use the magic wand in global mode to select the text. When I do this, it selects the whole layer rather than just the text. Should I reselect the text layer before doing this? (presumably by highlighting that layer in the layers box). Presumably the next stage of drawing the ellipse should be on the new layer I created? When I try step 4, even if selecting the text via reselecting layers above, I use the outline tool, but get no result - it just remains with the thin black outline of the magic wand selection. Hope someone can help me...as its sending me round the bend not being able to do something which should no doubt be so simple. Hopefully I'm just selecting the wrong layers at the wrong time or something, so if someone could even highlight the layers I should be selecting for each task, that should hopefully help.... Know this forum isn't for questions, but thought better asking here, just in case anyone else is having the same issues....(no doubt will just be me!) Thanks guys.... Yes, step 3 would've been better served by saying: use magic wand in global mode on text layer create new layer draw ellipse in filled shape mode go to layer properties since it's presently asking you to create a new layer, then go back to the text layer and selecting the text, then back to the new layer and yes, this is the correct forum to ask questions, when the question deals with a specific tutorial, ask it in the tutorial's thread.
  11. yeah, I saw the chip...but was wondering why you just didn't adjust the lighting in shape3D...but then I read more closely and saw you wanted it standing up on edge... duplicate your chip set it to black and white adjust brightness/contrast both to 0 move that layer below your chip layer use layers>rotate/zoom, and pan/tilt it downwards and to the side adjust the opacity of the layer could also add a gaussian blur if you wanted...you didn't really specify how sharp the shadow was supposed to be should end up something like this:
  12. there's a tutorial here showing you how to make poker chips from scratch
  13. it's done with brushes...similar to this tutorial
  14. yet another way is to use dpy's perspective plugin
  15. also check out "photo flood fill" so you can fill a selection using another image
  16. true, it has been done several times, but since the legacy tutorials aren't accessible anymore, this one is safe. however, one of your steps needs to be edited, or else people will come in here hollering about it... where you say: "Then go to linear gradient and drag from the top down" I see you're in transparent gradient mode, however it doesn't say anything about it. A linear gradient (not in transparent mode) will completely cover up what's below it.
  17. .need the help A.S.A.P like it says...click duplicate layer button :DuplicateLayer: then make sure the top of the two layers is selected, so the layer is highlighted in blue in the layers window
  18. the gray & white checkerboard indicate transparency if it really annoys him, simply create a new layer and fill with a color, and move it down  below the layer with transparency
  19. holy cow...that'd be 144 separate images! there's no automatic plugin for this (that I know of) nor do I know of any other image editor that has this ability
  20. I selected an area with just the big letters, like so: Then, using http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ It comes up to a match for a commercial (non-free) font called Crillee http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/efscangraphic/crillee-sb/bold-italic/
  21. if you have Vista, it has built-in "snipping tool" found in accessories folder
  22. If you try different halftone shapes, or adjust the quality at the bottom, it's not as noticeable. Below is an example I just did...just a black to white gradient, and then run the halftone plugin
  23. What I would do... First split it into 3 images, using canvas size. To do this: take your original image, and go to Image> canvas size uncheck the "maintain aspect ratio" box set pixel size to 256 width and 128 height set anchor point to Left click ok...that will give you your first 256x128 image, the left-most image save it as a separate image then click undo, and repeat the steps, except setting the anchor point to Right this will give you your right-most image...save that separate again, undo... go to canvas size one more time then set pixel size to 512 width and 128 height and set anchor point to middle this will yield the middle of the image, which you will hopefully know how to get to the correct size...
  24. This two webpages may help you understand it: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/ImageMenu.html http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/SelectionTools.html
